Note on the Limit of a Function at a Point

Abstract: The definition that we will give is actually rather informal. A more rigorous definition (that takes all of the finer details into account) is given in more advanced Calculus courses. However, after studying several examples and working several homework exercises, the concept of “limit” should become clear enough to allow us to proceed with our study of Calculus (notably the “tangent problem” that was introduced in Section 2.1).
