Research on the Relationship between Knowledge Structure and Innovation Performance in the Complex and Dynamic Environment

Abstract: The relationship between knowledges tructure and innovation performance in the complex and dynamic environment is studied.The NK model of the external environment and the knowledge structure is built,and its corresponding walking in the fitness landscapes is computer simulated.The main results are as follows.The type of knowledge structure has little impact on innovation performance in a stable and simple environment;in a stable and complex environment,the firms with the highest performance are nearly decomposable;in a dynamic and simple environment,the modular structure performs better;in a complex and dynamic environment,the firms with the other two types of structures can obtain much higher innovation performance than ones with modular structure.
