Abstract: Migratory processes, reception and intercultural dialogue The focus of this issue highlights the expectations and influences present in the migration project of contemporary immigrant. It underlines how the immigrant, away from their culture and often isolated from its group, is called to put in place a rapid process of adaptation using mental schemas and reference categories are not always appropriate or recognized by the new cultural context. It highlights the serious difficulties that immigrants face when host models of the West hamper, on regulatory plan, the project migration, drafted in his own country, often without taking into account the rules and regulations of the country. And when those difficulties are transformed into open conflicts can immigrants bring serious inconvenience, even on the plane of values, generating real identity crisis, anomie and symbolic disorientation, easily translatable into dramatic outcomes for the weakest. The contribution ends with a reflection on the concept of culture in relation to the processes of globalization and the need to promote a serious dialogue with the other open to new forms of intercultural coexistence.

TL;DR: The effects of colonialism on the processes of acculturation and socialization are discussed in this article, where a reflection on processes of reception of migrants in the West without considering the role and consequences that have had colonial processes of the last century, notably by Britain and France, will appear a reflection always and only from the point of view of Westerners.
Abstract: The effects of colonialism on the processes of acculturation and socialization A reflection on processes of reception of migrants in the West without considering the role and consequences that have had colonial processes of the last century, notably by Britain and France, will appear a reflection, always and only from the point of view of Westerners. For this, and in order to enlarge the observation point, will read what historically were the contacts and the conflicts between Europe and the rest of the world; and regarding the actions and thought present in the processes of colonization of the last century, by the European continent and in particular to Africa. Everything is of extreme importance, because it makes the complexity of the reception and the difficulties that it shows when, in the current historical periods, the West stands, game force, to deal with migration flows of considerable proportion. The discussion that follows, therefore, wants to show the historical value of the contact happened, now more than a century ago, and the impact and effectiveness of this contact in our days. The question we posed this deepening can formulate as follows: "as we are aware of us, and what are their, immigrants, the effect that, even today, the colonial experience on dialogue between cultures? And how this experience influenced on the formation of patterns of reception of immigrants still active in Europe?

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an argument about occupational safety and health between attack objects and attachment objects in the context of cultural attachment in a context of migrants and their communities, where the work to integrate culturally and locally determined social roots is not provided for.
Abstract: PERSPECTIVE NEVSKI. Occupational safety and health between attack objects and attachment objects Abstract Occupational safety and health represent one of the main interesting scopes within the broad field of the problems concerning migrants and societies, which have been by now structurally reconstructed on the multicultural front. In this direction the ethnopsychiatric perspective can give useful tools of theoretical and methodological analysis to be placed at the beginning of future projects and future operational interventions. In order to develop an argument about the topic of 'occupational safety and health' it is worth to highlight those weighty elements which act upon the environments of material production: the socio-politicalcatalysts (linked to group human identities and institutions); the limited and identitycatalysts (linked to single human identities and connected to the activities of violation of a duty and effraction of a right); the institutionalcatalysts and the ensuing objects (legislative intentions, regulations, sanctions, controls, etc.). The analysis of these preliminary elements allows to reconsider the enforcement of laws as regards occupational safety – specially as far as migrant workers is concerned – in terms of mechanism and attack objects where the work to integrate culturally and locally determined social roots is not provided for. On the other hand, we think that an activity of prevention should be able to affect the attachment objects and processes which appeal to the cultural and psychological attachment applications of an individual as regards her/his own group. The core of our interest lies, therefore, in the possible comparison/conflict among systems of cultural attachment. This is important, as we may regard migration as an event which dislocates the native identities and it is a risk factor even for occupational safety and health. The ‘indemnity syndrome’ is a paradigmatic example of how clinical and existential implications may be linked to general social issues: the problems between inculturation and acculturation, the destabilization of the system of values and of the presence dynamic, the difficulties in the manifold and mixed cultural belonging. Key words: ethnopsychiatric, occupational safety and health, indemnity syndrome, comparison/conflict among cultures, attachment objects, attack objects, inculturation, acculturation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the process of social construction of empathy displayed by media and on the remarkable differences among the three cases in 2004-2005 (Tsunami, the Katrina Hurricane and the Earthquake in Pakistan).
Abstract: Reporting a catastrophe: the “social construction of empathy” in the context of daily press When a collective disaster occurs, Mass Media are called into play: their action is intended not only to inform, but also to transmit, amplify, trasform emotional reactions, to convey meanings and to spread beliefs, evaluations and Social Representations. While comparing with such dramatic events, people are induced to turn to mass media, seeking for support in interpreting and coping with them. In this view, social communication can play a fundamental role in moderating negative feelings, restoring self-efficacy, developing sense of identity, empathy and pro-social behaviours. The present paper focuses on these topics by considering how an important Italian newspaper (La Repubblica) has being dealing with three different natural calamities which occured in 2004-2005 (Tsunami, the Katrina Hurricane and the Earthquake in Pakistan). To this aim, all articles published in the newspaper during the 30 days after each event have been analysed by both quantitative and qualitative methods. Our results are discussed by focusing on the process of social construction of Empathy displayed by media and on the remarkable differences among the three cases.
