TL;DR: In this article , the authors focus on pragmatische be-handlungsempfehlungen analog der aktuellen Heilmittelrichtlinie aufzustellen.

TL;DR: Computer users with neck pain and with FHP had significantly impaired cervicalJPS, and factors like FHP, pain intensity, disability, and duration of computer usage may influence cervical JPS.
Abstract:
Purpose People use computers in offices and workplaces daily to perform
different activities. Impaired cervical proprioception and forward head posture
(FHP) may contribute to the development and maintenance of neck pain in computer
users. The aims of this study are 1) to compare cervical joint position sense
(JPS) in computer users with neck pain, with FHP, healthy computer users, and
healthy non-computer users, 2) to assess the relationship between cervical JPS
and age, BMI, pain, disability, head posture, and duration of computer
usage.
Materials and Methods This cross-sectional study included 134 subjects
aged between 25 to 50 years old in four groups (Group 1: computer users with
neck pain (n=31), group 2: computer users with FHP (n=33), Group
3: healthy computer users (n=35), and Group 4: healthy non-computer
users (n=35). The cervical JPS was evaluated in flexion, extension left
and right rotation directions using a cervical range of motion device. The
reposition accuracy is estimated as joint position error (JPE) in degrees. The
cervical JPS is compared between groups and correlated with age, BMI, pain,
disability, head posture, and duration of computer usage.
Results and Discussion The mean cervical JPE's were significantly
larger in the neck pain group (p<0.001) and in the FHP group
(p<0.001) compared to other groups. There were no significant
differences in JPE's between healthy computer users and non-users
(p.>0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between
JPE's and age, pain intensity, disability, and computer usage
duration.
Conclusion Computer users with neck pain and with FHP had significantly
impaired cervical JPS. Factors like FHP, pain intensity, disability, and
duration of computer usage may influence cervical JPS, and these factors can be
considered when assessing and planning treatment strategies for computer
professionals.

Zielsetzung (vgl. § 39 SGB V, § 43 SGB IX) als auch im Hinblick
auf die rehabilitativ ausgerichtete Weiterversorgung einschließlich der
zeitnahen Vermittlung in eine bedarfsgerechte Rehabilitationseinrichtung.
Rehabilitationsmedizinische Kompetenz innerhalb von
Krankenhäusern kann über das Einführen
einer/eines ärztlichen Reha-Beauftragten mit klaren
Qualifikationsvorgaben erreicht werden.

TL;DR: In this article , aufklärung, ob auch vulkanischer Fango über biologisch aktive Substanzen verfügt.
Abstract:

TL;DR: In this article , a study of 25 weibliche and männliche Personen in den Altersgruppen 20-40 years (Junge) and 50-70 years (Ältere) untersucht was conducted.

TL;DR: In Deutschland, 6-10% of the people suffer from Chronische Stressbelastung (TICS) as discussed by the authors , i.e., a significant number of individuals suffer from stress-related conditions.
Abstract:
Einleitung In Deutschland leiden 6–10% der Menschen an
klinisch relevanten Schlafstörungen, insbesondere unter der arbeitenden
Bevölkerung. Werden diese chronisch, können sie zu
schwerwiegenden Erkrankungen führen und einen beträchtlichen
Teil der Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz ausmachen. Deshalb wurde ein
Kneippkurprogramm für nicht-organische Schlafstörungen als ein
nicht-medikamentöses Behandlungskonzept im Kurort Füssen
entwickelt und überprüft.
Methodik Randomisierte monozentrische klinische Studie mit 5
Erhebungszeitpunkten (prä-/post-Intervention, 1, 3 und 6 Monate
nach Intervention). Intervention: 19-tägiges multimodales Kneippprogramm
(Ordnungstherapie, Hydro- und Thermotherapie, Bewegungstherapie).
Primäre Zielgröße: Subjektive Schlafqualität
(PSQI-Gesamtscore von 0–21 Punkte:≤5 Punkte=gesunder
Schlaf, PSQI-Wert 5–10 Punkte=schlechte Schlafqualität,
PSQI-Gesamtscore>10 Punkte=chronische Schlafstörung).
Sekundäre Zielgrößen: Allgemeines Wohlbefinden
(WHO-5-Wellbeing-Index), chronische Stressbelastung (TICS), dysfunktionale
Überzeugungen zum Schlaf (DAB-16), Teilnehmerzufriedenheit.
Ergebnisse 96 Erwachsene mit Schlafstörungen (mittleres Alter 56
Jahre, 83% weiblich) wurden in eine Interventionsgruppe IG
(N=47) und Wartekontrollgruppe WG (N=49) randomisiert. Zu
Studienbeginn gab es keine relevanten Gruppenunterschiede (PSQI-Gesamtwerte: IG
11,7±3,1, WG: 10,6±3,0).
allen Messzeitpunkten im Follow-up.
Schlussfolgerung Die ambulante multimodale Kneippkur erzielte signifikante

TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the efficacy and safety of laser therapy in shoulder impingement syndrome and found that laser therapy exhibited significant efficacy, especially in terms of pain release (MD=1.26, 95% CI=0.55-1.97, P= 0.05).
Abstract: Abstract Background Laser therapy is used as a noninvasive treatment for musculoskeletal diseases, including shoulder pain, but its efficacy in shoulder impingement syndrome remains controversial. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of laser therapy in shoulder impingement syndrome. Methods The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from its establishment to June 2021. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in shoulder impingement syndrome were included. The primary outcome was pain, and the secondary outcomes were function and range of motion. Meta-analysis was performed with RevMan 5.3. Results A total of 12 RCTs and 669 participants were included. The results showed that laser therapy exhibited significant efficacy in shoulder impingement syndrome, especially in terms of pain release (MD=1.26, 95% CI=0.55–1.97, P=0.0005) and range of motion (MD=4.27, 95% CI=1.93–6.61, P=0.0003). However, the effect of shoulder function was uncertain (SMD=0.43, 95% CI=0–0.85, P=0.05). The subgroup analysis of pain showed that the efficacy of the laser therapy was related to the wavelength of the laser and the number of combined treatments. No adverse events were reported in the included trials. Conclusions Laser therapy can significantly relieve pain in shoulder impingement syndrome and has no adverse reactions.

TL;DR: Although physical therapy is commonly utilized for treating children with developmental disorders, incorporating trampoline exercises into the program has been associated with improved motor performance.
Abstract:
Background & Objectives Developmental Coordination Disorder is a
condition that affects motor performance and causes difficulty in learning, and
activities of daily living. This condition is very prevalent in children who
suffer from poor balance and motor impairments. The Objectives of this study are
to determine the effects of trampoline exercises on motor performance and to
assess the balance and quality of life in children.
Methodology This randomized, placebo treatment-control trial was conducted
at Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad Pakistan. Sample of 26
children, diagnosed with developmental coordination disorder consecutively aged
5–12 years meeting inclusion criteria were isolated into two groups;
control and experimental using purposive sampling. The Participants in the
control group performed conventional physical therapy and the experimental group
received trampoline jumping exercise interventions 3x times a week for one hour
and 1 hour 15 mins for experimental (trampoline group) for eight
weeks with conventional physical therapy sessions. We used three validated
questionnaires; Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCDQ), Paediatric Balance
Scale (PBS), and Paediatric Quality of life (PQL). The data were analyzed using
SPSS 21. A p-value<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results Out of 26 participants, the mean age and S.D were 8.8±1.0.
About 43% were males and 58%, were females. In the experimental
group, the motor performance showed a significant difference between the two
groups in the 8th-week p<0.007, and non-significant results for balance
improvement p>0.05. The quality of life showed significant results at
the 4th week with a p<0.03 and a non-significant difference between a
group at the 8th week with p>0.05 and both groups estimated a
p<0.001.
Conclusion Although physical therapy is commonly utilized for treating
children with developmental disorders, incorporating trampoline exercises into
the program has been associated with improved motor performance.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of proprioceptive exercises applied to patients with hemiplegia on muscle tone, balance, perception, posture, mobility, and spatiotemporal parameters were investigated.
Abstract: Abstract Objective It was planned to investigate the effects of proprioceptive exercises applied to patients with hemiplegia on muscle tone, balance, perception, posture, mobility, and spatiotemporal parameters. Materials and Methods 70 participants with hemiplegia were randomized to an experimental group (conventional stroke rehabilitation program+proprioceptive exercise, 30 sessions) and a control group (conventional stroke rehabilitation program, 30 sessions). Timed Up and Go (TUG) Test, Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Posture Assessment Scale for Stroke Patients (PASS), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI), Spatiotemporal parameters (cadence, maximum plantar pressure, total weight transfer, step cycle duration, swing phase, step length and foot angle), and Berg Balance Scale (BERG) were applied on all participants before and after treatment. Results When the intra-group values were compared before and after the treatment, TUG, PASS, MMSE, RMI and BERG values increased significantly. MAS upper extremity and MAS lower extremity values decreased significantly. (p<0.01). In the comparison between the groups, one of the spatiotemporal parameters, cadence, total weight transfer, and maximum plantar pressure values, increased significantly after the treatment. Step cycle duration, swing phase, step length and foot angle values decreased significantly after the treatment. (p<0.01) Conclusion Unlike the literature, proprioceptive exercises that we add to the conventional rehabilitation program can be used to improve muscle tone, balance, perception, postural control, mobility, and spatiotemporal parameters.

TL;DR: Although muscle morphology and quality are associated with demographic features, US should not be used as a predictor of sports performance in female football players since no association between US and sports performance were observed.
Abstract:
Background Quadriceps muscle plays a relevant role in soccer as its
function is determinant for sprinting, jumping and striking the ball. Although
ultrasound demonstrated to be useful in risk of injury prevention and monitoring
post-injury rehabilitation, no studies analyzed the ultrasound muscle histology
with sports performance tests. We aimed to analyze the correlation between
ultrasound findings related to rectus femoris morphology and composition with
sports performance indicators and to analyze sociodemographic, sports
performance and ultrasound differences according to playing position.
Methods An observational study was conducted at the CFF OLYMPIA soccer
club (Madrid, Spain). Twenty-two semi-professional female soccer players were
enrolled in this study. Sociodemographic data, bilateral ultrasound measurements
of the rectus femoris muscle and sports performance tests (Counter Movement Jump
-CMJ-, The Sprint Repeat Ability -SRA-, and one Repetition Maximum -1RM-) were
collected.
Results No correlations between ultrasound imaging and sports performance
indicators were found. Significant correlations between cross-sectional area and
perimeter with age (p<0.05) and fatty infiltration with body mass index
and tight perimeter (p<0.05) were seen. No muscle ultrasound morphology
or quality differences were found between the playing positions
(p>0.05). Finally, most of the functional tests showed no
between-position differences (except SRA between goalkeepers and attackers).
Conclusion Although muscle morphology and quality are associated with
demographic features, US should not be used as a predictor of sports performance
in female football players since no association between US and sports
performance were observed. Similar US and functional test scores were obtained
among the different playing positions.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of music on balance parameters in healthy individuals was investigated and it was found that high-intensity music can be a safe and motivating method to be used in addition to clinical applications.
Abstract: Abstract Objectives This study aimed to determine the effect of music on balance parameters in healthy individuals. Methods Forty-two participants were included in the study, mean age=23.3 (SD=5.31). Prokin Tecnobody balance device was used for balance measurements. Static and dynamic balance measurements on the dominant foot and bipedal stance were recorded while listening to high-intensity music and without music. Results In the study, there was a statistically significant difference in the dominant foot static mediolateral balance in measurements taken with music (p=0.013). But, there was no difference in other parameters (p>0.05). When examined by gender, it was found that the mediolateral balance scores of females on static and dynamic dominant feet were significantly higher in high-intensity music than males (p<0.05). Conclusion In healthy participants, music improves the mediolateral balance on the dominant foot. Therefore, high-intensity music can be a safe and motivating method to be used in addition to clinical applications.

TL;DR: In this paper , a comprehensive theoretical research method was used to develop an innovative approach to rehabilitation after fitness injuries, which was both individually oriented and universally accessible, regardless of the condition of the injured person.
Abstract: Abstract The relevance of this study comes from the fact that with the growing popularity of fitness training, the number of injuries is also increasing. Injuries sustained during fitness activity can result in interruptions to one's daily life, loss of income, temporary or permanent disability. Along with physical discomfort, injuries sustained during physical activity lead to post-traumatic emotional reactions, often associated with depression, tension, anger and low self-esteem. All of these factors contribute to a deterioration in the overall quality of life of people who initially strive for an active and healthy lifestyle. Therefore, this article aims to identify effective techniques for the swift recovery process following injuries sustained during fitness activities. This treatment should include not only the physical but also the psycho-emotional aspect of rehabilitation. The leading investigation approach was a comprehensive theoretical research method, which led to the development of an innovative approach to rehabilitation after fitness injuries. The uniqueness of this method is that it was both individually oriented and universally accessible, regardless of the condition of the injured person. The study presents statistics of injuries and their classification after fitness sessions describes characteristic psycho-emotional disorders associated with post-traumatic syndrome, outlines methods of rehabilitation and substantiates its use for effective comprehensive recovery of people striving to lead an active life. The materials of this article are of practical value for trainers of fitness centres of all specialisations, doctors of rehabilitation centres, family doctors, and physiotherapists, who will be able to apply this method of rehabilitation directly and thus improve the quality of life of the patient, helping them to regain an active lifestyle and restore their psycho-emotional health.

TL;DR: Exercise intervention is effective to improve the quality of life in patients with colon cancer and is associated with improved health-related quality of life.
Abstract:
Introduction The influence of exercise intervention for colon cancer
remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to
explore the effect of exercise intervention on the quality of life in patients
with colon cancer.
Methods We have searched PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO, and
Cochrane library databases through September 2020 for randomized controlled
trials (RCTs) assessing the effect of exercise intervention for colon cancer.
This meta-analysis is performed using the random-effect model.
Results Five RCTs are included in the meta-analysis. In patients with
colon cancer, exercise intervention is associated with improved health-related
quality of life (SMD=2.79; 95% CI=1.66 to 3.92;
P<0.00001) and reduced fatigue score (SMD=−2.21;
95% CI=−3.22 to −1.20; P<0.0001), but
revealed no obvious impact on emotional functioning (SMD=0.51;
95% CI=−0.57 to 1.58; P=0.35), anxiety score
(SMD=−0.93; 95% CI=−2.50 to 0.64;
P=0.25) or weight (SMD=0.28; 95%
CI=−0.19 to 0.75; P=0.24).
Conclusions Exercise intervention is effective to improve the quality of
life in patients with colon cancer.

TL;DR: The majority of the participants showed moderate levels of Satisfaction with assistive technology and the impact was observed on the physical, social and environmental domains of QOL.
Abstract:
Background Spinal cord injury (SCI) survivors rely greatly on assistive
devices, spending around 9–11 hours daily in a wheelchair. It
can act both as a barrier and facilitator, positively impacting their mobility,
community participation, quality of life (QOL) and functional independence
provided the device is satisfactory. However, there is a paucity of information
on the level of user satisfication and its impact on the mobility and well
being. Keeping in view the present study was conducted to determine the level of
wheelchair user’s satisfaction and its impact on physical activity and
QOL in SCI.
Methods A cross sectional study with a sample of 130 was conducted at
Paraplegic Center, Peshawar using “Quebec User Evaluation of
Satisfaction with assistive Technology (QUEST)” for wheelchair
user’s satisfaction, “Physical Activity Scale for Individuals
with Physical Disabilities (PASIPD) for physical activity and World Health
Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) for QOL.
Results Mean age of the study participants was 32.48±11.96 years.
The majority of the participants were males, with most of them being manual
wheelchair users. Nearly 80% were regular users. The calculated mean for
the QUEST was 3.23±0.51 while 24.49±27.66 for the PASIPD. For
the WHOQOL-BREF the calculated median (IQR) in the environmental 56.00 (19.00)
and psychological 56.00 (12.00) domain was highest followed by physical domain
50.00(19.00). No significant correlation between participant’s
satisfaction level (for wheelchair), and PASIPD (rs=0.054,
p=0.541) was observed. On the other hand significant positive
correlation was found between physical (rs=0.394,
p<0.001), social (rs=0.303, p<0.001) and
environmental domain (rs=0.425, p<0.001) except
psychological domain (rs=0.156, p=0.076) of QOL.
Conclusion The majority of the participants showed moderate levels of

TL;DR: Freestyle wrestlers were more vulnerable to muscle injuries while Greco-Roman wrestlers wereMore vulnerable to finger and wrist injuries, and it is recommended to improve some abilities excellently such as aerobic power, strength, balance and neuro-motor coordination in wrestling.
Abstract: Abstract The aim of this study was to compare the injured body regions that elite Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers suffered from and to determine the importance of injuries. 41 Freestyle and 51 Greco-Roman wrestlers, who were practicing in Turkish National Wrestling Team camps, participated in this study. ‘Chi Square’ and student t tests were used in statistical analyses. When examined injury status and body regions distribution between Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers, significant difference was found in head and trunk injuries according to wrestling styles (p<0.05). No difference was found in upper/lower extremities and lesion/scrape and friction burns status of the wrestlers according to wrestling style (p>0.05). There was significant difference in trunk and upper extremity injuries with respect to weight category (p<0.05 and p<0.001). Significant difference was also found in nose injuries according to wrestling styles (p<0.05). When examined wrestling style and upper extremity injuries according to the number of injuries, there was found significant difference between two styles in muscle injuries, finger and wrist injuries (p<0.05). The difference between toe injuries in respect to the wrestling style was statistically significant (p<0.05). Results: Greco-Roman wrestlers experienced more injuries in trunk, head and nose compared to Freestyle wrestlers. Trunk, lower and upper extremity injuries varied depending on weight categories. Neck, back, lumbar and chest injuries were more common in Greco-Roman wrestlers. Freestyle wrestlers were more vulnerable to muscle injuries while Greco-Roman wrestlers were more vulnerable to finger and wrist injuries. It is recommended to improve some abilities excellently such as aerobic power, strength, balance and neuro-motor coordination in wrestling. Techniques should be taught well to the wrestlers, most risky extremities for injury have to be applied extra training and these extremities should be protected from injuries by several tapes, bandages or gears during exercise. Freestyle wrestlers ought to be more careful in diving move. Using ear protector in addition to preventive measures can be recommended during training in order to prevent temporal bone fractures and swellings.

TL;DR: A HIIT intervention has proven feasible for elderly patients in a geriatric rehabilitative setting and further research should specify the HIIT intervention in order to offer this training to more patients.
Abstract:
Background With an increasing number of inpatients in geriatric
rehabilitation, there is continuing interest in efficient training measures
regarding physical performance. Objectives To examine the feasibility and
outcomes of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in geriatric patients.
Methods Single-centre randomized controlled study of HIIT vs. moderate
continuous training (MCT) for patients ≥65 years old referred to
inpatient rehabilitation. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) was performed
before the first and last training in order to measure participant’s
cardiorespiratory fitness. At the same time-points patients completed a series
of questionnaires regarding subjective improvements and acceptance of the
training methods.
Results Regarding feasibility, HIIT showed a completion rate of
82.4% and an adherence rate of completed sessions of 83.3%. HIIT
significantly improved cardiorespiratory fitness (+13% for
VO2peak, p=0.01), respiratory quotient (+9%,
p=0.01) and power output (+12% for Watt peak,
p=0.01) compared with MCT. Significant improvements were also seen over
time for physical and mental scores of PROMIS-10 and quality of life.
Conclusion A HIIT intervention has proven feasible for elderly patients in
a geriatric rehabilitative setting. Further research should specify the HIIT
intervention in order to offer this training to more patients. Long-term
observations are also needed.

TL;DR: In this paper , Kuckartz et al. present a study on the partizipation am Erwerbsleben of Menschen with Querschnittläsionen in Deutschland.
Abstract: Zusammenfassung Relevanz Informationen zur Partizipation am Erwerbsleben von Menschen mit Querschnittläsionen in Deutschland lieferte u. a. der German Spinal Cord Injury Survey 2017.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of problematic smartphone use on physical activity level and musculoskeletal pain were examined in a study with two hundred eighty university students with neck and back pain.
Abstract: Abstract Objectives The aim of this study was to examine the effects of problematic smartphone use on physical activity level and musculoskeletal pain. Methods Two hundred eighty university students (185 female; 95 male; mean age: 20.84±2.37 years) were included in the study. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to determine the level of physical activity. Problematic smartphone use was determined using the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form (SAS-SF) and musculoskeletal pain using the Nordic Musculoskeletal System Questionnaire. Results When SAS-SF scores were examined, it was seen that 31.8% (89 people) of the participants had problematic smartphone use. A moderate negative correlation was found between problematic smartphone use and physical activity level (p=0.0001; r=−0.419). Neck (p=0.017) and back pain (p=0.040) severity was higher in people with problematic smartphone use. Conclusions The findings show that problematic smartphone use has negative effects on both physical activity level and pain severity. For this reason, problematic smartphone use should be questioned in university students with neck and back pain.

TL;DR: The modified four-square step test (mFSST) showed good reliability in patients who had undergone revision total knee artroplasty and is a reliable measure for the assessment of gait variability, dynamic balance, walking skills and mobility.
Abstract:
Background The modified four-square step test (mFSST) assesses dynamic
balance by rapid stepping in different directions. This study aimed to evaluate
the reliability of the mFSST in patients who had undergone revision total knee
artroplasty (rTKA).
Methods The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. The mFSST was
administered on 22 patients with a history of rTKA. Two trials were performed
and the patients rested between trials to avoid fatigue.
Results The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the mFSST was
0.83. The standard error of measurement and the smallest real difference
(95%. confidence level) were 0.67 and 1.85 respectively.
Conclusion The mFSST showed good reliability in patients who had undergone
rTKA. The mFSST is a reliable measure for the assessment of gait variability,
dynamic balance, walking skills and mobility. It can easily detect changes in
rTKA patients with simple equipment.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effectiveness of ischemic compression and low-level laser therapy combined with exercise on the myofascial trigger points in women with chronic pelvic pain was investigated.
Abstract: Abstract Objective To investigate the effectiveness of ischemic compression and low-level laser therapy methods combined with exercise on the myofascial trigger points in women with Chronic Pelvic Pain and to determine which method is more effective. Methods It was a parallel designed, single-blind pilot randomized clinical trial. Patients were recruited at physiotherapy laboratory of the Istanbul University from September 2017 to June 2019. Twenty-eight women patients with Chronic Pelvic Pain were included into the trial. Patients were randomized into two groups. Group 1 received ischemic compression and Group 2 received low-level laser therapy twice a week for 6 weeks. Both groups received the same standard exercise program. Pain, range of motion, pelvic floor symptom severity, quality of life, satisfaction, anxiety, and depression were assessed after 6 weeks, and 1-year follow up. Results Following the treatment, significant differences were observed within both group subjects in pain, range of motion, symptom severity, quality of life, and anxiety-depression (p<0.05). This significant improvement in pain, symptom severity, symptoms related quality of life and pain subgroup of Short Form 36, continued after 1-year follow up (p<0.05). In comparison between group, Group 1 have more significant improvement than Group 2 in terms of symptoms related quality of life (p<0.05). Conclusion Both methods have shown efficacy and can be used safely in chronic pelvic pain patients. Because it is more effective on symptoms related quality of life, the ıschemic compression method may be preferred for primary use.

TL;DR: The Return-to-Prozess as discussed by the authors is a Rehabilitationsmodell in form of a return-toprozesses, e.g., for the rehabilitation of a sport injury, anhand of Testbatterien, strukturierter gestalten, and Aussagen über the Funktionsfähigkeit der betroffenen Struktur.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors evaluated the short-term effects of kinesiology tape on knee pain and maximal strength in individuals with complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.
Abstract: Abstract Objective Limited data are available regarding the effects of application of kinesiology tape (KT) on pain and muscular strength in individuals with complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the short-term effects of KT on knee pain and maximal strength. Materials and Methods 25 subjects were divided into two groups: a) the control group participants (n=11) were without ACL-tear; and b) the experimental group participants (n=14) were with ACL-tear. Participants in the experimental group were tested under two conditions: with and without KT. Pain was recorded using the visual analog scale, isometric and concentric maximal voluntary contractions (MVCs) were measured using dynamometry, and limb symmetry index was calculated. Results Application of KT causes reduction in pain by 50 % (p<0.05), increases knee flexors and knee extensors isometric MVC and knee extensor concentric MVC at 60°/s angular velocity (p<0.05), and improves limb symmetry (p<0.05), but deficit of MVC as compared to healthy controls is maintained (p<0.05). Conclusions Short-term KT can be an effective tool for decreasing ACL-tear associated pain and muscle weakness.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors identified the most common symptoms most frequently reported by patients with temporomandibular disorder and determined the degree of pain improvement and structural changes through temporomandsibular joint correction.
Abstract:
Background and Aim Patients with temporomandibular disorder often
experience pain in various parts of the body. However, the degree of improvement
of patients’ pain through temporomandibular joint correction has not
been identified in an independent study. This study aimed to identify the
symptoms most frequently reported by patients with temporomandibular disorder
and determine the degree of pain improvement and structural changes through
temporomandibular joint correction.
Methodology Patients who complained of temporomandibular disorder and
visited a dental clinic and agreed to participate were included in the study
(n=85). The patients were divided into a nontreatment group
(Control, n=35) and treatment group (Treatment,
n=50) of the temporomandibular joint, and the treatment group
received more than 10 correction treatments. All reported locations of pain were
recorded preintervention and postintervention of temporomandibular joint
correction treatment, and the degree of pain, which measured using a visual
analog scale, was also recorded. Simultaneously, X-ray imaging was performed to
confirm the structural difference between the pre-temporomandibular joint and
post-temporomandibular joint correction treatment.
Result Most of the patients with temporomandibular disorder complained of
temporomandibular joint pain (n=66/85), but the majority
complained of neck pain (n=61/85) and shoulder pain
(n=60/85). In addition, there were many cases of
headache (n=26/85), back pain (n=25/85),
and lockjaw (n=22/85). In rare cases, complaints of
facial pain (n=2/85), tinnitus
(n=2/85), hip joint pain (n=4/85),
knee pain (n=5/85), xeroma
(n=1/85), and ear pain (n=1/85)
have been reported. After temporomandibular joint correction treatment, the
treatment group had significantly lower visual analog scale scores than
pretreatment for TMJ pain, headache, shoulder pain, neck pain, back pain, and
lockjaw (p<.0001). Furthermore, it was confirmed that the balance
of the cranial bone and mandibular condyle symmetry in the X-ray image was
significantly improved in the TMJ correction treatment group (pretreatment vs.
posttreatment, p<.001). In the control group, no significant
differences were observed pre-and post-intervention in all symptoms and X-ray
images.
Conclusion Temporomandibular disorders can cause pain in other parts of
the body with an unknown cause. Therefore, these results show that if the pain
in other parts of the body cannot be fundamentally resolved, temporomandibular
joint correction treatment through the diagnosis of temporomandibular disorder
may need to be performed in dental clinics.
