Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, an analytic method is described that uses static experimental data to predict the separated flow effect on rigid and elastic aerospace-vehicle dynamics, and the time lag occurring before a change of flow conditions causes a statically stabilizing load to produce negative aerodynanamic damping and an unstabilizing load causes a positive aerodynamic damping.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the past and present research efforts and concluded that the most effective way to combat the hazards associated with aircraft landings and takeoffs on contaminated runways is by measuring and displaying in real-time the braking performance parameters in the aircraft cockpit.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: An overview of the evolution of propfan aircraft design concepts and system studies can be found in this article, where a review of the NASA Aircraft Energy Efficiency (ACEE) program propfan projects with industry is reviewed with respect to system studies of propFan aircraft and recommended flight development programs.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the technical problems encountered during the development and certification of Concorde are reviewed, mainly associated with aerodynamics, but other areas are discussed where they interact with the aerodynamic design or if there were conditions peculiar to supersonic transportation which had to be considered.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the main theme is the "turbulence modelling" used in present days' computational schemes, which is an effort to account for the influence of turbulent motion on diffusion processes, and reflects our efforts to bridge what is generally recognized as the "closure gap".

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A review of the development of propeller aircraft noise certification by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) can be found in this paper, where the authors describe the pertinent ICAO-document "ANNEX 16" which contains "standards and recommended practices" for the noise certification of a propeller-driven aeorplanes either above, or not exceeding, a certificated take-off mass of 5700 kg.
