TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the particular odor properties, structure-odor correlations, biological significance and of the biochemical generation of sulfur-containing odorants is given. But the focus of this paper is not on the chemical properties, but rather on the biological significance of these compounds.
Abstract: Sulfur-containing compounds are some of the strongest odorants. The perception of their odors often depends on their concentration as well as on their chemical, diastereo- and enantiomeric purity. Even if present only in trace amounts, they may change the overall olfactory impressions of fragrant mixtures, which makes the art of composing perfumes both difficult as well as rewarding. In the fruity area, compounds such as 8-mercapto-p-menthan-3-one (37), p-menthene-8-thiol (59), 3-mercapto-hexanol (62) and Oxane® (100) have gained unimpeachable superiority in terms of imparting natural fruitiness and freshness which transmits also into other olfactory domains. With regard to fragrance chemistry, the article gives a review of the particular odor properties, structure-odor correlations, biological significance and of the biochemical generation of sulfur-containing odorants.

TL;DR: Isothiazol-3(2H)-ones and their metal salt complexes are potent industrial microbiocides because of antifungal and antibacterial properties as mentioned in this paper, however, they are difficult to synthesize.
Abstract: This review deals with methods for the synthesis, reactions and biological activity of isothiazol-3(2H)-ones. Monocyclic isothiazol-3(2H)-ones have been reported by oxidative cyclization of thiomalonamide derivatives, amides of 3-thionocarboxylic acids and 4,5-dithiaoctanediamides; by cyclocondensation of β-thiosubstituted propenamides and ring contraction of 1,4-thiazepines. Isothiazol-3(2H)-ones and their tautomer OH-forms have been investigated. Isothiazol-3(2H)-ones and their metal salt complexes are potent industrial microbiocides because of antifungal and antibacterial properties.

TL;DR: The synthesis, reactions, and biological activity of heterocyclic annelated isothiazol-3(2H)-ones and a new series of 12-benzisothiazoL3-2H-ones of the last ten years are reviewed in this paper.
Abstract: This review covers the synthesis, reactions, and biological activity of heterocyclic annelated isothiazol-3(2H)- ones and a new series of 12-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-ones of the last ten years. Isothiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine-3(2H)-ones have been reported by oxidative cyclization of 2-mercapto-3-pyridinecarboxamides, 2,2-dithio- and 2,2-trithiobis(3-pyridinecarboxamides) and by cyclocondensation of 2-thiosubstituted 3-pyridinecarboxa- mides. The isomeric isothiazolopyridine-3(2H)-ones, pyrimidine-3(2H)-ones and the thienoisothiazoL3(2H)- ones have been described. I, 2-Benzisothiazol-3(2H)-onesand their heterocyclic bioisosteric derivatives have been reported to possess high antifungal and antibacterial activities.

TL;DR: In this article, a review article includes a recent development in the chemistry of bridgehead nitrogen thiazolpoyrimidines, and a synthesis approach with respect to the four different ring systems were reported.
Abstract: This review article includes a recent development in the chemistry of bridgehead nitrogen thiazolpoyrimidines. Synthetic approaches with respect to the four different ring systems were reported. Chemical reactivity, experimental structural methods, biological activity, basicity of thiazole heterocyclic compounds, and applications were also reported. This review includes 126 references.

TL;DR: The diversity of functions of organic sulfur compounds in the most important fields of silver halide photography is reviewed in this article, where the higher oxidation states (+2 to +4) are shown to be useful for modifying the reactivity and physical properties of auxiliary and supplementary components.
Abstract: The diversity of functions of organic sulfur compounds in the most important fields of silver halide photography is reviewed. While organic sulfur compounds of the lower oxidation states (−2 to 0) are discussed mainly as important ligands for silver ions in all stages of the photographic process, those of the higher oxidation states (+2 to +4) are shown to be useful for modifying the reactivity and physical properties of auxiliary and supplementary components.
