TL;DR: The Cliff's Delta statistic as mentioned in this paper is an effect size measure that quantifies the amount of difference between two non-parametric variables beyond p-values interpretation, and it can be interpreted as a useful complementary analysis for the corresponding hypothesis testing.
Abstract: The Cliff´s Delta statistic is an effect size measure that quantifies the amount of difference between two non-parametric variables beyond p-values interpretation. This measure can be understood as a useful complementary analysis for the corresponding hypothesis testing. During the last two decades the use of effect size measures has been strongly encouraged by methodologists and leading institutions of behavioral sciences. The aim of this contribution is to introduce the Cliff´s Delta Calculator software that performs such analysis and offers some interpretation tips. Differences and similarities with the parametric case are analysed and illustrated. The implementation of this free program is fully described and compared with other calculators. Alternative algorithmic approaches are mathematically analysed and a basic linear algebra proof of its equivalence is formally presented. Two worked examples in cognitive psychology are commented. A visual interpretation of Cliff´s Delta is suggested. Availability, installation and applications of the program are presented and discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyze psychometric properties of Spanish version of the Brief COPE questionnaire, analyzing its factor structure, and confirm the validity of the COPE-28.
Abstract: The aim of this paper was to analyze psychometric properties of Spanish version of the Brief COPE questionnaire, analyzing its factor structure. The Spanish version of the Brief COPE was named COPE-28. The sample was 260 adult people. Exploratory factor analysis with principal components method and varimax rotation was used to extract the factors; an also second order analysis was used. The KMO result showed a non adequate value, which puts in doubt the viability to realise a factorial analysis for the items that form the COPE-28; nevertheless the analysis was done, it was not confirm the factor structure of Brief COPE. With the obtained results, the validity of the COPE-28 is not conclusive.

TL;DR: In this article, Chorot et al. realizaron modificaciónes a the Escala de Estrategias de Coping (EEC-R) in the version de chorot y Sandin (1993), and se identificaron las propiedades psicometricas y validez estructural.

TL;DR: In this article, a presente investigación focused on evaluating the relationship between the estres academico, apoyo social, and the salud mental and the rendimiento academico.

TL;DR: This article explored social desirability bias in self-reported subjective well-being, controlling for several socio-demographic variables such as gender, age, education, marital/relationship status and employment status.
Abstract: Social desirability seems to enhance well-being measures because individuals tend to increase the degree of their satisfaction and happiness resulting in response artifacts and in a serious threat to the validity of self-reported data. This paper explores social desirability bias in self-reported subjective well-being, controlling for several socio-demographic variables such as gender, age, education, marital/relationship status and employment status. This is in order to test whether social desirability has incremental validity in predicting some well-being measures. Three different facets of well-being are proposed which deal with subjective happiness, general life satisfaction, and gratitude and loneliness, respectively regarded as a positive and negative emotional response. Through a web-based survey a convenience sample of 170 participants completed an online questionnaire including measures of social desirability, subjective happiness, life satisfaction, gratitude and loneliness. Correlation analyses and two-step hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted. All well-being measures show modest significant correlations with social desirability ranging from .235 to .309, except subjective happiness. Social desirability accounted for from about 3% to 6% of the variance of these measures, after controlling for socio-demographic variables. Social desirability seems thus to play little role in well-being self-report measures, as revealed by previous studies. Some limitations are discussed, as well as issues about social desirability bias in online investigation.
