Abstract: In breast X-ray examinations of 480 women on oral contraceptives, no increase in pathological findings was found. Comparing the mammograms before and during therapy, a small number showed hyperplastic changes of the mammary gland as well as hypoplastic alterations. The type and chemical composition of the drug did not seem to influence the colpocytological findings. While mastopathy was twice as great for nulliparae than for multiparae the 21% mastopathy rate in the oral contraceptive group was comparable to a control group.
