Abstract: Objective:To study the effects of Brassica campestris pollen extract(BPE)on prostate cancer cell line in vitro.Methods:PC-3 and DU-145 cell line from prostate cancer were treated with various concentrations of BPE.Morphologic change was observed with light microscope and apoptosis change by electron microscope.The suppression rate of the growth of prostate cancer cell was evaluated by using CCK-8 assay.Changes in prostate cancer cell cycle were observed by FAC SCailibur.Result:The growth of prostate cancer cells were markedly inhibited after being treated with BPE.After the treatment,obvious morphological change was observed;FCM showed that the rate of G0/G1 phase was increased and that the rate of S and G2-M phase was decreased in the cell cycle.Conclusion:BPE may have remarkable effect on inhibiting the growth of PC-3 and DU-145 cell line from prostate cancer.

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of using Jiajian Suanzaoren decoction to treat patients with insomnia.Methods: A comprehensive search strategy was designed to identify all randomized controlled trials(RCTs) comparing Jiajian Suanzaoren decoction with other therapies.A Meta-analysis was performed by Rev Man 5.0 software obtained from the Cochrane Collaboration.Results: Thirteen RCTs met the inclusion criteria.Compared with the control group,the combined outcome of Jiajian Suanzaoren decoction was effective to insomnia[OR 3.12,95% CI(2.26,4.30),P 0.01].A similar symmetry pattern was seen in the funnel chart and sensitivity analysis was consistent.Conclusion: Jiajian Suanzaoren decoction may have good efficacy to patients with insomnia.

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the polymorphism of thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor(TAFI)encoding gene CPB2 in patients with cerebral infarction(CI)Methods: CPB2 gene(Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala)polymorphism was typed with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) in patients with CI(n=98) and a control group(n=100)Results: The genotype frequencies of Thr325Ile(C1040T) and Thr147Ala(G505A) in the CI group and control group were as follows: C1040C(Thr325Thr)of 33(337%)and 29(290%);C1040T(Thr325Ile)of 47(480%)and 51(510%);T1040T(Ile325Ile)of 18(183%)and 20(200%);A505A(Thr147Thr)of 15(153%)and 43(430%);G505A(Thr147Ala) of 44(450%)and 19(190%);and G505G(Ala147 Ala)of 39(397%)and 38(380%)χ2 analysis showed no significant difference in all the Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala polymorphism distributions in the CI and control groups(P005)Conclusion: None of the results showed any statistical correlation between TAFI polymorphisms and CI

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of water extract of Dendranthema Morifolium(DM) on the Protection of Myocardium from Ischemia Injury in Canines.Methods: The model of acute myocardial infarction(AMI) was established in adult Beagle canines.Canines were divided into 4 groups: sham group,AMI group,and AMI+DM1 group(DM at the dose of 17 mg/kg)and AMI+DM2(DM at the dose of 68 mg/kg)group,6 in each.The intervention time was 2 weeks.The ration of infarct area to risk area was examined and calculated,and enzymes as creatine kinase(CK-MB) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and inflammatory factors as IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were determined after the intervention of water extract of DM.Results: After the 2-week treatment with DM,the ration of infarct area to risk area,the infarct area weight,the levels of TNF-αand IL-6 were reduced as compared with the AMI group(P0.01,P0.05,P0.05,and P0.01,respectively) was decreased as compared with the AMI group.Conclusion: Water extract of DM may ameliorate myocardial ischemia injury by downregulating the level of inflammatory factors.

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of genstein,a kind of phytoestrogen(PE) derived from a soy diet,on capabilities of learning and memory in ovariectomized rats,and to explore the underlying mechanism.Methods: Fifty female Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: sham-operation group,ovariectomized group;and low(25 mg/kg),medium(50 mg/kg) and high(100 mg/kg) doses of genstein groups,10 in each.Three genstein groups were given 25,50,and 100 mg/kg genstein in 1 week after operation,respectively,and the sham-operation and ovariectomized groups were given equivalent volume of the vehicle in which genstein was dissolved.After 4-week treatment,Morris water maze test were used to observe the ability of learning and memory.The number of apoptosis neurons in the hippocampus was detected by flow cytometry.Results: The ovariectomized group had significantly prolonged average latency as compared with the sham-operation group(P0.05);the average latency of 3 doses of genstein groups was significantly shortened as compared with the ovariectomized group(P0.05);but no significant difference was found among low,medium and high doses of genstein groups(P0.05).The apoptosis of neurons in the hippocampus of the ovariectomized group was greater than that in the sham ovariectomized group(P0.01).Treatment with 4-week different doses of genstein in the experiment groups significantly decreased the apoptosis of neurons in the hippocampus as compared with the ovariectomized group(P0.05),but no significant difference was noted among the 3 experimental groups and the sham-operation group(P0.05).Conclusions: Genstein can enhance the capabilities of learning and memory of the ovariectomized rats.This improvement may be due to the decrease in the number of apoposis neurons in the hippocampus.
