Abstract
The authors present a novel approach for determining the required uplink EIRP (effective isotropically radiated power) for each link of an ECCM (electronic counter countermeasures) satellite communications network as a function of link and network parameters A feature of this analysis is that each link can be assigned a parameter that indicates the fraction of transponder capacity required by that link This approach provides an accurate initial estimate of the required uplink EIRP without performing the complex hardlimiter nonlinearity calculations In addition, this approach provides an insight into the maximum available capacity of the transponder >

Advantages of orthogonal hopped waveforms in a hardlimited SHF satellite transponder

TL;DR: The maximum achievable data throughput is determined for the Orthogonal and nonorthogonal cases, and the ratio predicts that orthogonal hopping will result in a large performance advantage relative to theNonorthogonally hopped case for a large fraction of transponder input power made up of signals as opposed to jams.
