Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attenuated total reflection optical probe capable of highly sensitively detecting a micro soluble component in aqueous solution and performing a quantitative determination by easily performing a spectrometry of water in a far-ultraviolet region of less than 180 nm.SOLUTION: This attenuated total reflection optical probe comprises an optical material having a light transmission property in the far ultraviolet region, and has a refractive index that changes continuously, at least in one part thereof. The optical probe includes, on a side in contact with a sample substance, a plane totally reflecting light having incident angle equal to or larger than the critical angle. The refractive index in the far ultraviolet region at a part near the plane including the part of the plane is higher than the refractive indices of the other part and of the sample substance.
