PURPOSE:To stably heat a filament for a discharge lamp by bringing the center of the winding width of an output winding of an output leakage transformer coincident to the center of the winding width of a filament winding and allowing the voltages produced at both the windings to become in phase. CONSTITUTION:In a leakage transformer 28, input windings 28a, 28b are wound through a bobbin 37 on a core 36, and a base winding 28c and filament windings 28e, 28f are wound partly thereon. The filament windings 28e, 28f are formed in the lowermost and uppermost layers of the output winding 28d in such a manner that the center of the width of the winding coincides approximately with the center of the output winding 28d. According to this construction, since the voltages of the windings 28e, 28f becomes in phase with the voltage of the winding 28d, the heating states of the filaments 28F1, 23F2 become stable, the formation of the filament spot after ignition is rapid, and the progress of blackening of the discharge lamp due to the energization and deenergization of the lamp can be largely improved.

Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion installation comprising a marine propulsion device including a transom bracket having a mounting portion fixed to the rear of a boat transom below the upper edge thereof, and a pair of laterally spaced arms extending upwardly from the mounting portion and including respective upper ends located rearwardly of the boat transom and above the upper edge thereof, a swivel bracket comprising a mounting portion and a pair of laterally spaced arms extending upwardly from the swivel bracket mounting portion and including respective upper ends, a tilt pin connecting the upper ends of the transom bracket and swivel bracket arms to provide for pivotal movement of the swivel bracket relative to the transom bracket about a tilt axis which is horizontally located rearwardly of the transom and above the upper edge thereof, a propulsion unit including an internal combustion engine and a propeller mounted for rotation and driven by the engine, and a king pin connecting the propulsion unit to the swivel bracket mounting portion for pivotal steering movement of the propulsion unit relative to the swivel bracket about a second axis transverse to the tilt axis and for common movement of the propulsion unit with the swivel bracket about the tilt axis and without travel of the propulsion unit over the transom upper edge or into engagement with the transom.

Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion device comprising a bracket adapted to be fixed relative to the transom of a boat and including an opening extending generally horizontally when the bracket is boat mounted, a marine propulsion unit including a fixed assembly extending through the opening, fixed relative to the bracket, and including a power head located above the bracket and including an internal combustion engine, and an upper housing located below the bracket and fixed to the power head. The propulsion unit also includes a lower housing connected to the upper housing for pivotal movement therebetween about a tilt axis which is horizontal when the bracket is boat mounted, a gear case assembly connected to the lower housing for pivotal movement therebetween about a steering axis which is transverse to the tilt axis, a propeller rotatably carried by the gear case assembly, and a drive train connected to the propeller and the engine and extending through the gear case assembly and the lower and upper housings.
