TLDR
In this article, a pig iron-like matrix with granular pearlite and granular graphite is refined to improve the wear resistance of an alloy by restricting the component ratio of the alloy and heat treatment temps.
Abstract
PURPOSE: To considerably improve the wear resistance of an alloy by restricting the component ratio of the alloy and heat treatment temps. to form a nearly white pig iron-like matrix in which granular pearlite and sorbite occupy more than 50%, and by limiting the amt. of carbides precipitated in the matrix. CONSTITUTION: An alloy is refined consisting of, by wt., C; 2W3%, Si; 0.4W1.5%, Mn; 0.4W2%, Ni; 1.5W4%, Cr; 0.8W3%, Mo; 0.5W2%, one or more out of V, Nb, Ti, Zr and W; 0.5W3.5% and the balance Fe practically. The alloy is subjected to diffusion heat treatment, hardening normalizing heat treatment, spheroidizing heat treatment and tempering strain relieving heat treatment in each suitable temp. range to form a nearly white pig iron-like matrix in which sorbite of high toughness and granular pearlite occupy more than 50%, and fine graphite is hardly precipitated. At the same time, the content of Fe type carbide is reduced to 30W50%, and the carbide is finely granulated and dispersed. 2W10% of V, Ti, Zr and Nb carbides of high hardness are further precipitated. Thus, the wear resistance of the alloy can be enhanced considerably. COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio

Wear-resistant compound roll

TL;DR: In this paper, a wear-resistant compound roll consisting of an outer layer (8) and a shaft portion (10) produced by a centrifugal casting method is presented, which is made of an iron-base alloy having a composition (by weight %) consisting essentially of 1-4 % of C, 3 % or less of Si, 1.5 % of Mn, 4 % of Ni, 2-15 % of Cr, 8 % of Mo, 20 % of W, 2 -10 % of V and balance substantially Fe and inevitable impurities.

Composite roll for hot rolling

TL;DR: In this paper, a composite roll for hot rolling is characterized in which the composite roll has a fixed roll diameter L 0 in the axis direction and its inner layer I is composed of steel system materials and its outer layer O is made of Heiss system materials.

Production of composite roll

TL;DR: In this article, a forged composite roll of superior surface roughening resistance and thoughness is obtained by plastically deforming the composite material which is obtainable by casting the outside layer of the high Cr cast iron material of the specific composition then casting the inside layer composed of a specific composition cast IR material to roll form.
