Brushless motors have physical and electrical characteristics to be compatible with energization by the simple square or stepped wave voltages easily produced with inverter type motor control circuits having a small number of controlled switches responsive to a rotor position sensor. These motors employ a few pairs of opposing non-distributed stator windings arranged overlapping or non-overlapping with a predetermined winding pitch, and a constant gap magnetically polarized or non-polarized rotor with pole faces having related angular dimensions, to thereby produce rectilinear back emf voltages with approximately the same wave shape as the energizing voltages. The circuits can control the applied voltage to adjust motor speed.read more

Architecture for electric machine
TL;DR: In this article, an electric machine with a rotor, stator and at least one winding in the stator adapted to conduct a current was described, and a secondary winding was inductively coupled to the first winding.

Electronically commutated reluctance motor
TL;DR: In this paper, the stator is constructed without low reluctance paths between adjacent pairs of stator poles and each pair of poles is polarized to form poles of opposite polarity such that a magnetic circuit joins the two adjacent poles of the pair.

Polyphase electronically commutated reluctance motor
TL;DR: In this paper, the first and second members of the motor are mounted for relative movement, and the poles of the first member are grouped into pairs separated by a space related to the even spacing of the poles on the second member.

Systems and methods for controlling a draft inducer for a furnace
TL;DR: In this paper, a motor for driving a fan for inducing a draft in the furnace that causes a pressure drop across the heat exchanger of the furnace, is used to define a set of speed/torque curves for operating the motor.

Electrodynamic system comprising a variable reluctance machine
John Byrne,James C. Lacy +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a stepping motor with variable speed operation (motors or generators) is proposed, which is made viable by simplification and gain in specific output and efficiency which results from constructions ensuring maximum saturation of magnetic flux at the stator pole faces.
