Levodopa: A Review of its Pharmacological Properties and Therapeutic Uses with Particular Reference to Parkinsonism
TL;DR: Levodopa2 is the laevo optical stereoisomer of the L-configurational form of dopa [L-(−)-dopa] and is advocated for the symptomatic treatment of Parkinson’s syndrome and is probably of no practical value in drug-induced Parkinsonism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nomifensine in parkinsonism.
TL;DR: Nomifensine, a tetrahydroisoquinolone antidepressant which facilitates dopaminergic and noradrenergic transmission, was studied in 28 Parkinsonism patients most of whom were also receiving conventional medications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nomifensine: effect in Parkinsonian patients not receiving levodopa.
TL;DR: The drug had a small, but significant anti-Parkinsonian effect and may be considered as an alternative to amantadine or anticholinergics, especially where depression is an added feature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Zur Frage des Off-On-Effektes bei Levodopa-Behandlung des Parkinsonismus
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of a low protein diet on 23 Parkinson patients manifesting the so-called "off-on" phenomenon has been investigated, where the protein intake was limited to 25 g/day (which is less than 0.5 g/kg body weight) for 1-4 months.

L-Dopa Therapy Combined with Peripheral Decarboxylase Inhibitor (MK-486) in Parkinsonism
Takashi Ohmoto,Hidemi Kishikawa +1 more
TL;DR: The effectiveness of the combination therapy was observed in all cases and a 1 : 10 ratio of MK-486 to L-dopa in dosage was preferable, and maximum plasma dopa levels were higher in those cases with marked improvement, and were highest in patients with diskinesias as a side effect.

Modification of Parkinsonism--chronic treatment with L-dopa.
TL;DR: Slowly increasing oral doses of L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-dopa) induced at least partial improvement of some manifestations in a series of 28 patients with Parkinsonism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of l-dopa in parkinson's disease
TL;DR: There was a continuing therapeutic effect 3 weeks after stopping treatment which was not detectable at 7 weeks, and greatest benefit was recorded in the patients' subjective assessment of disability.
