In this article, an electric motor in which the communicating means is controllable and operable individually of the armature of the motor to effect a speed control for the motor is described.
Abstract
An electric motor in which the communicating means is controllable and operable individually of the armature of the motor to effect a speed control for the motor. An electric motor the communicating means of which has fixed electric contacts which are an integral multiple of the coils of the motor stator whereby the rate of operation of the commutating means with respect to the rate of operation of the motor is reduced. An electric motor the commutating means of which utilizes a liquid metal to effect an electrical connection between fixed and moving contacts.

Rotary electric device

TL;DR: In this article, an electric motor having a low speed shaft that rotates at a speed much slower than the speed of a high speed shaft comprises a stator having a cylindrical bore with a longitudinal axis and a rotor that carries the low speed rotor and rotates in the bore eccentrically about the axis so that there is contact and no magnetic gap between a relatively small portion of the rotor periphery and the periphery of the bore.

Speed control in self-powered eddy current drive

TL;DR: A rotary coupler provides a speed control signal to vary the amount of current that is provided to the electromagnet, which can also provide power from the rotating generator to a stationary controller as mentioned in this paper.

DC brush motor

TL;DR: In this paper, a DC brush motor includes an armature fixed to a shaft for unitary rotation with the shaft by way of a pair of bearings, which is made up of a core, a coil winding, and a resin-made supporting member.

Motor for rotary brush

TL;DR: In this article, a hollow armature assembly rotatably supported about a permanent magnet stator is used to construct a rotating final drive member for a vacuum sweeper, which is integrated in the cleaning brush of a vacuum cleaner.

Eddy current drive

TL;DR: An eddy current drive (711) has an electromagnet (15, 17) and an armature (19) coupled to a motor shaft (31) so as to rotate therewith, while the other is coupled to the load portion as discussed by the authors.

Current collector for rotating machines

TL;DR: The known current collectors for unipolar machines where mercury is used as the contact metal between a rotating and a stationary metal body possess the undesirable property that the transition resistance between the solid metal and the mercury is relatively high.
