Determination of ethamsylate by UV spectrophotometry with potassium dichromate as oxidant

Objective:To develop a new method for the determination of ethamsylate.Method:In 1.2 mol·L~(-1) sul- phuric acid solution,ethamsylate can be oxidized by potassium dichromate to form an oxidation product determined by UV-spectrophotometry at 250 nm.Results:The molar absorption coefficient (e) is 1.8×10~4 L·min~(-1)·cm~(-1).The reaction obeyed Beer's law within the range of 0.12-36.0 μg·mL~(-1),the linear equation is A =0.00364+0.0651c(r =0.9999)for the investigated drug,and the detection limit is 0.08 μg·mL~(-1).The drug recovery rate is 92.5%- 105.3% with the developed methods to determine injection of ethamsylate form and urine samples.Conclusion:The developed method is simple ,rapid ,specific and sensitive for determination of ethamsylate.read more
