Abstract
The upper half of the leading face of the container is fitted with a demountable shape (1) to act as a drag reducer. It is pear shaped and covers the centre of the face, or has two similar, smaller shapes at the edges. It is simple to fit and does not increase the load unduly, while considerably reducing the fuel consumption. The drag reducer can be assembly from bolt together plastic shapes, which are easily stored when stacked. The shape can also be obtained by an inflatable chamber strapped to the face of the container, and coupled to the lorry air system.

Nose fairing assembly

TL;DR: In this paper, a nose fairing member with a smooth, synclastically curved forward facing surface and a plurality of vortex generators in juxtaposed spaced relationship to each other is used to reduce air drag resistance.

Aerodynamic trailer fairing

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a fairing for attachment to or formed integral with the front face of a vehicle so as to reduce aerodynamic drag, and the radius of curvature of each of the curved edge portions was selected so that the Reynolds number for air flow around that edge portion at a particular vehicle speed exceeds the critical value of the Reynolds numbers for that speed.
