Journal ArticleDOI
Adverse effect of air pollution on respiratory health of primary school children in Taiwan.
Pau-Chung Chen,Yu Min Lai,Jung-Der Wang,Chun-Yuh Yang,Jing-Shiang Hwang,Hsien Wen Kuo,Song Lih Huang,Chang-Chuan Chan +7 more
TL;DR: Although the association with ambient air pollution is suggestive, the cross-sectional study cannot confirm a causal relationship; thus further studies are needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Respiratory and irritant health effects of a population living in a petrochemical-polluted area in Taiwan
Chun-Yuh Yang,Jung-Der Wang,Chang-Chuan Chan,Pao Chung Chen,Jing Shiang Huang,Ming Fen Cheng +5 more
TL;DR: Exposure to petrochemical air emissions may be associated with increased rates of acute irritative symptoms, and future studies are needed to identify the potential role ofPetrochemical industrial emissions (particularly volatile organic compounds) in the genesis of acute irritated symptoms in a nearby petro chemical industrial area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Respiratory symptoms of primary school children living in a petrochemical polluted area in Taiwan.
TL;DR: In 1994–1995 a cross‐sectional epidemiological study investigating the respiratory health of school children in two Taiwan areas was conducted; one area was located in a region with petrochemical manufacturing complexes (Linyuan), and the other was situated in a reference area with no local industrial emissions.

OUP accepted manuscript
TL;DR: In this article , the authors focus on seminal epidemiologic work that established valid links between air pollution exposures and health outcomes and generated data for environmental policies and prevention, and hope to inspire epidemiologists to address many more of the burning environmental health questions.
