Eine Schadigung der oberflachlichen Beugesehne (OBS) an den vorderen Extremitaten des Pferdes fuhrt nicht selten zu einer Auserdienststellung, die in schwerwiegenden Fallen in einer Euthanasie des Tieres resultiert. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, neben der Ergrundung der Schadigungsmechanismen einer initial intakten equinen OBS, die Eignung eines implantierten dezellularisierten Ersatzgewebes zur Behandlung eines topischen Schadigungsabschnittes zu evaluieren.
Nach einer zyklischen Belastung wird der Schadigungsbeginn durch Inhomogenitaten der Matrix, in Form von interfibrillaren Aufweitungen und Diskontinuitaten innerhalb der Kollagenstruktur, bis hin zu einer vollstandigen Ruptur im mittleren Metakarpalbereich deutlich. Ein groserer Crimp-Winkel im peripheren Areal fuhrt zu einer groseren Toe-Dehnung, was im Umkehrschluss in einer fruhzeitigen Belastung der zentralen Fasern resultiert. Neben den rein strukturbedingten Einflussfaktoren konnten zusatzlich biochemische Verformungseinflusse registriert werden. Ein fur die Festigkeit der Sehne ausschlaggebender hoherer Fibrillenanteil, gemessen am gesamten Gewebekonstrukt, sorgt im zentralen Areal fur einen hoheren Elastizitatsmodul, was zusatzlich fur eine hohere Belastung in dieser Zone bei einer identischen Dehnung der peripheren Fasern fuhrt.
Zur Vermeidung eines minderwertigen Narbengewebes in dem lasionierten Sehnenabschnitt ist eine Eignung des dezellularisierten Spendergewebes als implantierte Ersatzstruktur bis zu einer definierten Belastung gegeben. Auf Grundlage vorhandener in vivo Studien kann wahrend der Rekonvaleszenzzeit lediglich eine gering belastende Schrittbewegung des Pferdes, verbunden mit einem geeigneten Bewegungsuntergrund, empfohlen werden, um eine erneute Ruptur in dem Behandlungszeitraum zu unterbinden. Eine Behandlung des rupturierten Sehnenabschnittes mit einer geeigneten Nahttechnik wird zur Fixierung der Kollagenstruktur weiterhin notwendig sein. Vielmehr konnte das dezellularisierte Implantat als Fullmaterial den Heilungsverlauf positiv beeinflussen. Eine hinreichende Festigkeit der Implantatstruktur oberhalb der zulassigen Belastbarkeit der Nahtverbindung ist nachweislich mit Hilfe der Erkenntnisse dieser Arbeit gegeben. 
A damage to the superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) on the anterior extremities of the horse often leads to an out-of-service position, which in serious cases results in an euthanasia of the animal. The aim of this work is to evaluate the suitability of an implanted decellularized replacement tissue for the treatment of a topical lesion section in addition to the investigation of the damage mechanisms of an initially intact equine SDFT.
After fatigue loading, the onset of damage is indicated by inhomogeneities of the matrix,in the form of interfibre space widening and discontinuities within the collagen structure, up to complete rupture in the middle metacarpal region. A larger crimp angle in the peripheral area leads to a larger toe strain, which in turn results in an early loading of the central fibres. In addition to the purely structural factors, biochemical deformation effects were registered. A higher proportion of fibrils, which is decisive for the strength of the tendon, measured in the entire tissue construct, ensures a higher modulus of elasticity in the central area, which additionally leads to a higher load in this zone with a identical strain of the peripheral fibres.
In order to avoid an inferior scar tissue in the lesioned tendon section,the decellularized donor tissue is suitable as an implanted substitute structure up to a defined load. On the basis of existing in vivo studies during the convalescence, only a low-loading step movement of the horse, combined with a suitable ground, can be recommended as to prevent a renewed rupture in the treatment period. Treatment of the ruptured tendon section with a suitable suture technique will continue to be necessary for the fixation of the collagen structure. Rather, the decellularized implant as a filling material could positively influence the healing process. A sufficient strength of the implant structure above the permissible load-bearing capacity of the suture connection can be demonstrated by means of this work‘s findings.

After conservative respectively operative treatment of two exactly comparable patients who suffered from rupture of the long head of the biceps tendon of the arm, the myoelectric activity of both muscle heads was investigated on the injured arm and compared to the uninjured side There was a significant diminution of activity in the ruptured long head as well as a reactive hyperactivity in the short head after conservative treatment in contrast to the operative treated patient, where these alterations in muscle activity were less marked The operative treatment therefore shows a better functional result when compared with the conservatively treated rupture
