Fuel dispenser fuel meter error detection device, system and method
TLDR
A flow switch used in conjunction with a fuel meter in a fuel dispenser to determine when fuel is flowing is discussed in this article, where it is shown that if the meter pulser is registering fuel flow, but the flow switch is not registering fuel flows, then an error exists with the switch.Abstract:
A flow switch used in conjunction with a fuel meter in a fuel dispenser to determine when fuel is flowing. A flow switch can only be activated if fuel is flowing through the flow path of the flow switch. If fuel is flowing as indicated by the fuel flow switch, but the meter is not registering fuel flow, there is a meter error, which may be an error internally with components of the meter and/or a pulser that generates pulse signals indicative of fuel flow. If the meter pulser is registering fuel flow, but the flow switch is not registering fuel flow, then an error exists with the flow switch. If fuel is flowing and there are no errors, both the meter and the flow switch should indicate fuel flow.read more

Fuel dispensing nozzle.
TL;DR: In this article, a pre-pay fuel system with a fuel nozzle with automatic cutoff provisions (12, 18, 32) is provided with a low fuel pressure controlled cutoff (22, 44), which allows rapid response to permit fuel flow when high pressure exists in the nozzle.
Patent
Wide range, high accuracy flow meter
TL;DR: A turbine type flow meter incorporating an auxiliary turbine ahead of the main turbine, the auxiliary turbine rotating in the opposite direction from that of a main turbine and serving as a flow conditioner, thereby extending the effective range of the flow meter to lower rates of flow.
Patent
Metered liquid dispensing system
TL;DR: In this paper, a liquid dispensing system using a microprocessor based electronic control and a positive displacement gear pump is presented, where a passive magnetic sensor is positioned adjacent the toothed periphery of a target wheel, which is mounted on the motor shaft.

Multi-fuel dispenser with one nozzle per fueling position
Roger W. Furrow,Harold Ray Young +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a control system is programmed for monitoring the dispensing of low octane and mid octane gasoline relative to the dispensation of high octane, and injecting a sufficient quantity of high-octane gasoline through the nozzle at the initiator of a mid-Octane dispensing cycle for compensating for low- octane fuel remaining in the other hose.
