Es gibt zwei Grunde dafur, von einer Krise der Vaterschaft zu sprechen: der erste Grund besteht darin, das heute alle bisherigen Bedeutungen der Vaterschaft zur Diskussion stehen. Die Fundamente der Vaterschaft — der Status und die Position des Vaters, beide eng verbunden mit der mannlichen Geschlechtsidentitat — sind nicht langer unumstritten (Kimmel 1987; Morgan 1992). Der zweite Grund, von einer Krise der Vaterschaft zu sprechen, besteht darin, das gerade wegen der Anderung der Fundamente von Vaterschaft viele individuelle Vater den Blick dafur verlieren, was Vaterschaft bedeuten konnte und was von ihnen als Vater erwartet wird. Veranderungen in der Art und Bedeutung institutionalisierter und internalisierter Rollen — und hierum geht es bei der Vaterschaft — konnen zu groser Verwirrung fuhren (Meuffels 1993).

The argument of this exploration of the Educational Psychology Paradigm and the Social Paradigm is that we, who are interested in and involved with social education, have been engaged in trying to understand and study social education in light of a profoundly alienated science of behavior. That alienated science of human life regards the behavior of human beings as phenomena as one might think of the phenomena of light and sound. To study behavior divorced from meaning, however, is to deny our humanity. The ethics of our craft as social scholars requires that we attend to that tradition of science that seeks to understand human beings as they live in human society.
