Abstract
The article investigates paratextual functions in contemporary Nordic children’s literature, especially fantasy and picturebooks. The framework is Ge´rard Genettes Paratexts (1997), and the study shows how paratexts can be seen as strategies at the service of reception, strategies aiming to secure, as far as possible, readings that correspond with the intentions of author, illustrator and publisher.
