Analysis and optimization of the ball burnishing process through the Taguchi technique

TL;DR: In this paper, the analysis and optimization of the ball burnishing process has been studied and the Taguchi technique is employed to identify the effect of burnishing parameters, i.e., burnishing speed, burnishing feed, burnish force and number of passes, on surface roughness, surface micro-hardness, improvement ratio, and improvement ratio of surface microhardness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Finite Element Modeling of Roller Burnishing Process

TL;DR: In this article, 2D and 3D finite element models for hard roller burnishing were established and the simulation results (i.e. surface deformation and residual stress) were evaluated and compared between initial hard turned and burnished surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quality improvement of ball-end milled sculptured surfaces by ball burnishing

TL;DR: In this article, the use of the ball burnishing process to improve the final quality of form tools (moulds and dies) is studied, which can be easily applied in the same machining centres as those used for milling.

Influence of roller burnishing contact width and burnishing orientation on surface quality and tribological behaviour of Aluminium 6061

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of burnishing speed, burnishing force and burnishing tool dimension on the surface qualities and tribological properties were investigated, and it was found that a simple tool with interchangeable adapter for ball and roller were designed and fabricated to perform roller burnishing processes on Aluminium 6061 under different parameters and different burnishing orientations.
