Abstract
Young Turks movement and Committee of Union and Progress, one of the cornerstones in Ottoman-Turkish modernization, laid the foundations of modernization reforms that would be realized in the single-party period by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his friends and constituted the backbones of the new republic and Republican People’s Party. Modernization reforms of the CUP were not only related to military issues, but also enclosed modernization reforms in terms of economic, educational and cultural domains and women rights.

TL;DR: The authors analyzed the representation of Turkey in four British broadsheets (the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, the Independent and the Times) as well as their Sunday sister papers between 2007-2013 and concluded that Turkey was perceived and represented as an agreeable, useful yet still inferior Model Other in British media texts during the time period analysed in this study.
