In this paper, the photodiode is connected between a bias voltage terminal and an inverting terminal of a main amplifier, the latter being implemented with a differential amplifier or a comparator.Abstract:
A light detecting circuit in which noise superposed on a bias voltage of a photodiode is substantially canceled without the aid of a filter circuit employing an inductor. The photodiode is connected between a bias voltage terminal and an inverting terminal of a main amplifier, the latter being implemented with a differential amplifier or a comparator. A capacitance device is connected between the same bias voltage terminal and the other (noninverting) input terminal of the main amplifier. The capacitance device may be either a physical capacitor or a second photodiode which, in either case, should have a capacitance equal to the parasitic capacitance of the first photodiode.read more

Photodetector circuit for an electronic sprayer

TL;DR: In this paper, the photodetector is not AC coupled in parallel with an inductor/capacitor resonant circuit which tunes the active filter, and therefore changes in photodeter capacitance due to changes in ambient lighting conditions are not impressed across the resonant inductor or capacitance circuit and therefore do not adversely change the frequency and phase characteristics of the circuit.

Optically coupled isolator circuit having increased common mode rejection
TL;DR: In this paper, a light emitter, which is responsive to an input signal, produces an output optical signal which is coupled through an optically transmissive electrical insulator to a principal photodetector disposed in a stray capacitive coupled relation to detect the optical signal to produce an output signal in response thereto.
