TLDR
In this paper, the reduction of the ferricyanide ions into ferrocyanide in the presence of a zinc salt to precipitate the ferrocyclanide ions in the form of zinc ferrocyanide is described.Abstract:
The invention provides an improvement in the disposal of a waste water coining iron-cyanide complexes including ferricyanides by the reduction of the ferricyanide ions into ferrocyanide in the presence of a zinc salt to precipitate the ferrocyanide ions in the form of zinc ferrocyanide. The improvement comprises the use of a sulfite, e.g. sodium sulfite, and a thiosulfate, e.g. sodium thiosulfate, in combination as the reducing agent whereby the reduction of the ferricyanide ions is complete within a relatively short time without being affected by the atmospheric oxygen or other factors.read more

Process for wastewater treatment
TL;DR: In this paper, free cyanide-containing wastewater is treated to destroy the free cyanides content thereof by the step of treating said water with sulfur in the form of polysulfide in an integrated process wherein thiocyanate is also eliminated to produce a nonhazardous wastewater effluent and treating the wastewater in a second step with cultures of bacteria of the genus Thiobacillus in combination with nitrifying bacteria which oxidize ammonia to nitrite to nitrate.

Process for improving the taste of beverages by reducing bitterness
TL;DR: Thiosulfate in anhydrous form is added in minute quantities to beverages such as soft drinks, citrus juices, coffee and a tea, or food mixes wherein tap water is added to neutralize or destroy chlorines or chloramines in the beverage and to reduce bitter tastes, such neutralization or destruction taking place almost instantaneously and, in any event, in a length of time not greater than about twenty seconds or, for most beverages, not more than about three seconds depending upon the pH of the beverage of food.
