Abstract: 
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method of producing 9,9-bis(4-(4-hydroxyphenyloxy)phenyl)fluorene which is useful as a raw material for polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, epoxy resins and modified acrylic resins, etc.SOLUTION: A method of producing 9,9-bis(4-(4-hydroxyphenyloxy)phenyl)fluorene comprises reacting fluorenone with p-phenoxyphenol in the presence of an acid so as to obtain the fluorenone derivative, so far synthesized through a plurality of reaction stages from expensive raw materials, easily in a high yield.
