The invention discloses a method of switching audio and video applications, a device and an intelligent television, which relate to the technical field of communication and aim at solving the problem that two audio and video applications grab an audio and video decoder during an audio and video application switching process. The method comprises steps: after an instruction of switching to a target audio and video application is received, a preset intermediate interface is started to trigger the currently-used audio and video application to enter a backstage, the occupied audio and video decoder is further released, the target audio and video application is started after release of the audio and video decoder is completed, and thus, the phenomenon that the currently-used audio and video application and the target audio and video application share the same audio and video decoder can be effectively avoided, phenomena of getting stuck, a blank screen, a blurred screen or having sound without an image during the video or audio playing process caused as the same audio and video decoder is shared can be avoided, and the user experience of the intelligent television is improved.read more
