An adjustable-length balloon dilatation catheter apparatus and a method for using the same are disclosed wherein an adjustable sheath is externally manipulated to partially surround and contain the dilatation balloon segment of the catheter while the catheter and balloon segment are in situ during a treatment procedure. By sliding the sheath forward or backward to expose a predetermined length of the balloon segment prior to inflating the balloon, the catheter apparatus of this invention is useful in medical procedures requiring balloons of varying lengths.read more

Lumen design for catheter
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a catheter assembly capable of insertion to a selected blood vessel in the vascular system of a patient. But they did not provide a method of manufacturing the same.
Patent
Method and device for performing cooling-or cryo-therapies for, e.g., angioplasty with reduced restenosis or pulmonary vein cell necrosis to inhibit atrial fibrillation
TL;DR: In this article, a balloon tip catheter was used to reduce atrial fibrillation by inserting and inflating the balloon such that an exterior surface of the balloon was in contact with at least a partial circumference of the portion of the pulmonary vein adjacent the left atrium.
Patent
Expandable multifunctional instruments for creating spaces at obstructed sites endoscopically
TL;DR: An expandable multifunctional instrument for creating a space at an obstructed site in the body includes an elongate member having a distal end for being introduced inside the body and a proximal end to be disposed externally of the body as discussed by the authors.
Patent
Expandable multifunctional manipulating instruments for various medical procedures
TL;DR: In this paper, an expandable multifunctional instrument for performing various diverse operative procedures includes an elongate distensible member having a distal end for being introduced in an anatomical cavity via a relatively small size anatomical opening and being movable from a non-distended position.
Patent
Integrated crossing balloon catheter
TL;DR: In this paper, an integrated crossing balloon catheter is presented, which includes a hub assembly secured to the proximal end of the catheter shaft, and a stiffening tube positioned over the inflatable balloon.

Dilatation catheter with collapsible outer diameter
TL;DR: A balloon dilatation catheter with a balloon at its distal end includes a distal segment having a collapsible outer diameter as discussed by the authors, which exhibits a high degree of trackability over a guidewire through tortuous blood vessels.
Patent
Coronary dilation method
TL;DR: In this article, a novel coronary dilation method is disclosed wherein a guiding catheter having at least one side arm is continuously flushed with heparinized saline during the dilation process except for momentary interruptions for recording coronary pressures.
Patent
Variable length dilatation catheter apparatus and method
Thomas J. Fogarty,Albert K. Chin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a dilatation catheter is described, consisting of an elongate elastomeric tube having a telescopic sheath received there around to selectively expose varying lengths of tube for inflation.
Patent
Balloon catheter with intrinsic introducer for percutaneous insertion into a blood vessel over a guide wire, and method of use
TL;DR: A balloon catheter as mentioned in this paper comprises a tip having a tapered distal end, a central lumen, and a balloon membrane coaxial with and surrounding the central Lumen and connected to the tip.
Patent
Catheter with heat-fused balloon with waist
Manouchehr Miraki,Carmen Diaz +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an everting balloon catheter with a waist at the desired eversion point to minimize the size of the distal tip of the catheter during insertion is described.
