A vane-type internal combustion engine in which, during a power stroke, a spring is compressed which delivers back power to the engine during a non-powered stroke and provides relatively even torque.

An apparatus for pressurizing a fluid comprises a housing including a chamber and at least one vane positioned in the chamber and adapted to oscillate therein at any convenient speed to pressurize a fluid. A seal member is secured to the at least one vane for sealing between the at least one vane and the chamber. A propulsion apparatus is provided for oscillating the at least one vane and a counterweight device is operably secured to the propulsion apparatus. The counterweight device moves in opposition to the movement of the at least one vane to minimize the vibration produced in the housing by the oscillation of the at least one vane. A valve mechanism is secured to the housing and is in fluid communication with the chamber in the housing to control the movement of fluid into and out of the chamber.

A tabulated kinematic control theory provides a foundation for a variety of peristaltic motion control versions where a control stator establishes a reference line for a peristaltic control wave or path in few different ways for the purpose of making a control point on a differential linkage or gear to follow this control path which in turn is creating an alternating harmonic-motion-like accelerating and decelerating rotary motion to a pair of concentric rotor shafts which are attached to vane carriers with one or more vanes each. The vanes are working in a main cylindrical central-axis rotating or stationary pressure chamber whereby the accelerating and decelerating rotary motion of vanes is creating variable volume subchambers between adjacent vanes to provide a peristaltic flow of fluids through a pattern of inlet and outlet ports in a stationary distributing stator which has a registered relationship with the control stator for providing a synchronized communication between the variable volume subchambers and the inlet-outlet ports or any other communicating points. The positively controlled differential power transmission between the two rotor shafts and the operating shaft offers two operating modes: when the operating shaft functions as a power input shaft, the device will operate as a pump or compressor or when an external or internal pressure is applied to a closed subchamber, the variable peristaltic motion of vanes is transmitting the fluid pressure to a uniform rotation of the operating shaft which will function then as a power output shaft for an external pressure steam or fluid power engine or for an internal combustion engine of any kind.

A reciprocating rotary engine includes a torus-shaped chamber which is divided into two regions. Each divided region forms a sealed chamber. Each sealed chamber is divided by a piston attached to a shaft whereby four sealed chambers are formed. A power converter includes two power combination devices and two motor/generator dual role electric motors. Each combination device has three rotational axes with the torques of two axes being combined together and transferred to the remaining axis. The two electric motors modulate the torque of an axis periodically in accordance with reciprocating rotary motion of the engine, to provide a counterforce to oscillating power and transfer unidirectional torque to a drive shaft.
