Abstract
Demodex carolliae, a parasite of the bat Carollia perspicillata, is described for all stages of its life cycle. The sequences and adaptive features of this life cycle are detailed. Some information is presented on the population structure and the pathogenicity of this species. This research was supported in part by Grant W83–1 to Dr F. Lukoschus from the Netherlands Foundation for the Advancement of Tropical Research (WOTRO).

Feather mites of Brazil (Acari: Astigmata: Analgoidea and Pterolichoidea)

TL;DR: A checklist of feather mites known from native birds in Brazil is presented, estimating that between 900 and 5300 feather mite species are expected to occur on Brazilian birds, which is at least five times greater than current records.

Cloning and expression of complementary DNA coding for an allergen with common antibody-binding specificities with three allergens of the house dust mite Blomia tropicalis

TL;DR: Immunoblottings performed with allergic serum and B. tropicalis-affinity-purified IgE demonstrated that the recombinant protein shares allergenic epitopes with the 11-13, 14, and 16 kd native allergens of this mite.

Demodex antechini sp.nov. (Acari, Demodicidae) parasitic on Antechinus stuartii (Marsupialia)

TL;DR: The first marsupial demodicid, Demodex antechini, is described with notes on its life cycle, sexual dimorphism and pathology, which suggests an early origin and a long evolutionary history of parallelism within the genus.
