TLDR
A controlled trial of practolol in the treatment of 19 patients with severe coronary heart disease has resulted in highly significant reductions in the frequency of chest pains and consumption of trinitrin tablets.
Abstract
A controlled trial of practolol in the treatment of 19 patients with severe coronary heart disease, manifested by pain at rest as well as with exertion, has resulted in highly significant reductions in the frequency of chest pains and consumption of trinitrin tablets. The incidence of serious unwanted effects, especially heart failure, hypotension, bradycardia and bronchospasm, was very low at the dosage used.

Double-blind comparison of verapamil and practolol in the treatment of angina pectoris

TL;DR: Verapamil proved to be the most efficient drug as regards attack frequency and glyceryl trinitrate consumption as well as physical working capacity, bringing about a statistically significant increase of the exercise tolerance as compared to placebo after a treatment period of four weeks.

Relation of Heart Rate and Systolic Blood Pressure to the Onset of Pain in Angina Pectoris

TL;DR: It was concluded that the precipitation of angina is normally the result of a rise in the work of the myocardium to a critical level which is essentially fixed in each patient.

Alterations in the Circulatory Response to Exercise Following a Meal and Their Relationship to Postprandial Angina Pectoris

TL;DR: The circulatory response to upright bicycle exercise in 12 patients with angina before and after a meal was evaluated to study the mechanisms responsible for the more rapid precipitation of angina in the postprandial state.

TL;DR: A decrease in the mean number of attacks suffered by patients while on practolol and a reduction in the number of glyceryl trinitrate tablets taken, which are of statistical significance at, at least, the 5% level.
