In this paper, an aqueous coating composition for the manufacture of precoated metal is based on a carboxyl group in a molecule and neutralizable with a basic material.
Abstract
of EP0792908An aqueous coating composition for the manufacture of precoated metal is based on an aqueous resin having a carboxyl group in a molecule and neutralizable with a basic material, the aqueous resin being selected from an acrylic copolymer resin, polyester resin, and polyurethane resin. A mono- or poly-carbodiimide compound is blended with the aqueous resin. The composition forms a coating having improved chemical resistance, water resistance, and adhesion to sheet metal.

Thermosetting water-borne coating composition, method of forming a coating film using same, and method of forming a multilayer coating film

TL;DR: In this paper, a polycarbodiimide compound modified for hydrophilicity and a carboxyl-containing aqueous resin composition was used as a water-borne coating.

Method of forming coating films

TL;DR: In this article, a method of multilayer coating films having a high quality appearance while controlling interfacial bleeding or inversion between coating film layers is provided. But the method is not suitable for the case where a water-borne intermediate coating and a base coating are formed in that order.

Method of making mixed aliphatic/aromatic polycarbodiimides

TL;DR: In this paper, mixed aliphatic/aromatic polycarbodiimides can be prepared by first heating polycarbodimides with a phospholene oxide catalyst and then feeding the aromatic mono and/or diisocyanates in an inert solvent to the reaction mixture, thus preparing cross-linking agents for carboxylated latexes used in making roofing materials, hardboard, pressure sensitive adhesives and the like.
