Gonadal function and its influence on psychopathology

TL;DR: It is proposed, however, that low estrogen levels of any origin can lead to the outbreak/deterioration of schizophrenic symptoms in vulnerable women.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy and tolerability of moclobemide in comparison with placebo, tricyclic antidepressants, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in elderly depressed patients: a clinical overview.

TL;DR: Moclobemide is an effective and well-tolerated antidepressant for the treatment of elderly depressed patients and of similar efficacy to the TCAs and the more recently introduced SSRIs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pupillary Abnormalities in Schizophrenic Patients During Long-Term Administration of Psychotropic Drugs: Dissociation Between Light and Near Vision Reactions

TL;DR: The pupillographic study revealed not only reduction in amplitude of the light reaction but also changes in dynamic aspects of the reaction, i.e., prolonged latency time, shortened constriction time, and half redilatation time after the light stimulus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combination Mesoridazine-and Benztropine Mesylate-Induced Paralytic Ileus: Two Case Reports

TL;DR: Drug-induced paralytic or adynamic ileus can result from additive anticholinergic effects of various medications, including mesoridazine and benztropine mesylate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Drugs, populations, and type II diabetes mellitus.

TL;DR: People with schizophrenia and other serious psychiatric conditions appear to be at significant risk of developing impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes, regardless of whether they are receiving antipsychotic medication.

TL;DR: The short-acting benzodiozepines, alprazolam (Xanax) and triazolam(Hakion) are especially prone to cause psychological and cognitive abnormalities as discussed by the authors.
