Abstract: The paper describes serials management in a large special library which forms part of a British research institution in the natural and earth sciences. A brief history of the library is followed by a description of its present status, aims, subject yields and user community. The Serials Librarian's work and position within the library system is described, including day-to-day housekeeping; acquisitions, with special emphasis on the exchange program; serials cataloguing, the serials list and a serials mechanization project.
