Stamping or cutting device has a magnetic cylinder (9) with a stamping or cutting plate (27) supported on the magnetic cylinder. A counter pressure cylinder is arranged opposite to the magnetic cylinder, while a suction device is arranged adjacent to it. Magnetic cylinder and suction device are raised and lowered relative to the stationary counter pressure cylinder. The invention also relates to a corresponding printer equipped with a stamping or cutting device.
