Abstract
This paper presents key techniques in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced as well as its potential applications. LTE supports peak rates up to 300 Mbps in downlink (DL) and 75 Mbps in uplink (UL), whereas LTE-Advanced would support 1.2 Gbps in DL and 600 Mbps in UL [1]. Since both peak and average throughput are dramatically improved compared to High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) [2], LTE and LTE-Advanced would enable new applications such as real-time high-definition (HD) video sharing services, which provide new user experiences in wireless communications.

Content-Based Video Quality Prediction for HEVC Encoded Videos Streamed Over Packet Networks

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that video content type is one of the key parameters that may impact the quality of streamed videos and is developed as a reference -free objective video quality prediction model for streamed HEVC encoded video sequences.

Study of Leakage-Based Precoding Scheme That Supports Coordinated Multi-Point Operation for LTE

TL;DR: This paper proposes to incorporate the channel between a victim user equipment (UE) and the cell that serves the victim UE into the leakage-based precoding calculation and investigates optimal linear scaling of the covariance matrix involving this channel.

Encoding and video content based HEVC video quality prediction

TL;DR: A content-based video quality prediction model that takes into account HEVC encoding parameter such as Quantization Parameter (QP) and video content type (characterised by motion activities and complexity of video sequences) is developed and could be used by content providers to determine the initial quality of videos based on QP and content type.

MIMO antenna using a decoupling network for next generation mobile application

TL;DR: A compact MIMO antenna using a decoupling network for next generation mobile application is proposed, which has the isolation of approximately 15 dB at the LTE band 13 and the ECC value less than 0.2 over the whole LTE band.
