The social structure and the labour market in Turkish agriculture

In this article, the social structure and labour market in the agricultural sector in Turkey are discussed, including the historical background of peasant farmer landowner system, impact of agricultural mechanization (tractorisation), incidence of landlordism in sharecropping and capitalist farming, limited incidence of wage labour, absence of a landless category, seasonal workers and internal migration in subsistence farming and commercial farming.
