Abstract
Publisher Summary This chapter presents Mal’cev's study, for algebraic systems generalize models (relational structures), algebras (algebraic structures), and partial algebras. An algebraic system consists of a nonempty base set and a number of basic notions defined on it of four possible kinds––predicate (relation), operation, partial operation, and distinguished element––in practice the last three are special forms of predicates. For the metalanguage Mal’cev employs a naive set theory with the axiom of choice. Mal’cev most frequently uses first-order predicate logic (FOPL) as his formal language, but propositional calculus (PC) and second-order predicate logic (SOPL) also occur.

Plant Breeding: Past, Present and Future

TL;DR: In situ and ex situ conservation, and evaluation and use of plant genetic resources is vital for future plant breeding, because future progress in crop improvement will come from three complementary approaches: use of hybridization and selection in further conventional breeding; mutation breeding, cisgenesis and gene editing; and genetically modified crops.

Pathways to God: The Islamic Acoustics of Turkish Berlin

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the nature of sound in Islamic practice: How does Islam sound? In what ways does sound articulate and generate difference both between Muslims and non-Muslims, but also among different Muslim communities? How can an acoustics of Islam help elucidate the workings of a metropolis like Berlin, and vice-versa?

Rhizoactivity: toward a postmodern theory of lifelong learning

TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual tool for describing learning in adulthood in terms of postmodern and lifelong learning conditions is proposed, based on the images of learning and learner that adult education scholarship has produced and identifies that adult learning theory attempts to signify foundational certainty by using binary-trapped adjectives.
