In a shipboard system, wastewater is withdrawn from a storage tank and is comminuted to reduce the size of waste solids. Coagulant is added, and the wastewater is centrifuged. Solid wastes are incinerated. The liquid wastes are disinfected and dissolved organic material is adsorbed in activated carbon. An effluent of tertiary quality is discharged.read more
