Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a temperature increase due to sunlight and dust drifting by making a concrete block in a two-layer structure made up of a compact concrete having fixed thickness in both sides and the bottom and a porous concrete in the inside center of the block. SOLUTION: Water retentive compact concrete 2 made by kneading cement, water, and aggregate (sand), is placed at the bottom portion 11 of an outer form. And then water permeable concrete 1 whose void fraction is 10 to 30% that is made by kneading cement, water, and aggregate (stone), is placed in an inner form placed in the center. And then, a water-retentive concrete block is formed by placing the concrete 1 in the part surrounding the inner form. And then a concrete block where water gathers in the center inside is prepared, gathering water suppresses a temperature increase due to sunlight and keeps the water-retentive concrete block in a condition of watered ground constantly and thereby controls drifting of dust.

Water retentive concrete block

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a water retentive concrete block for paving, which can prevent a heat island phenomenon without requiring a special water-retentive material; satisfies a performance as an interlocking block for pavement; does not require a material to cover an upper part of a hollow portion of the block; has no dent across an entire surface; has enough strength to allow a pedestrian to walk thereon; can easily improve a travelling performance of a cart; and can be manufactured without an occurrence of color shading.
