Wireless in Local Loop: Some Key Issues
TLDR
The V5.2 standard provides a convenient protocol for interfacing in this manner to all exchanges for the wireless local loop system, which is best interfaced as a remote access unit to an exchange.Abstract:
Wireless links are emerging as a superior alternative to the copper pair for the local loop in telephony. However, to provide for sufficient subscriber density with a reasonable bandwidth allocation, a micro-cellular architecture is a must. Further, the wireless local loop system is best interfaced as a remote access unit to an exchange. The V5.2 standard provides a convenient protocol for interfacing in this manner to all exchanges.read more

Handling of telecommunications signals passed between elements of a telecommunications network
Cooper Ian Leslie,Jonathan Andrew Thompson,Martin Lysejko,Joemanne Chi Cheung Yeung,Andrew M. Walding,Guy Alexander Cooper +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a system for handling telecommunications signals passed between a first and second element of a telecommunications network, the first element having an interface for transmitting and receiving signals in a first protocol, and the second element having a protocol conversion element is provided for performing predetermined protocol conversion steps on the non-traffic bearing channels.

The corDECT wireless local loop: capacity predictions
TL;DR: It is shown how the CorDECT system could be expanded to a 10,000-line exchange with a BHCA of over 2,10,000 calls/hour and the feasibility of implementing 64 kbps data service along with voice is investigated, it is shown that this requires modest hardware improvements.

The Performance of the corDECT Voice/Data Wireless Local Loop
TL;DR: A closed Queueing Network Model (QNM) is proposed for the corDECT system and it is shown how the system could be expanded to a 10,000-line exchange with a BHCA of over 2,10,000 calls/hr, and the feasibility of implementing 64 kbps data service along with voice.

ADSL: a new twisted-pair access to the information highway
TL;DR: This article concentrates on ADSL systems capable of at least a nominal 6 Mb/s payload transport toward the customer, in addition to associated upstream channels and symmetrical "telephony" services via nonloaded loops that comply with carrier serving area design guidelines.
