Abstract: This chapter deals with the determination of the main ship dimensions (length, beam, draft, side depth), following the estimation of ship’s displacement and the selection of other basic ship design quantities and hull form characteristics (hull form coefficients, powering, weight components, stability and trim, freeboard, load line), as required in the first phase of ship design, that is, the Concept Design. The various effects of specific selections of ship’s main dimensions etc. on the ship’s hydrodynamic performance, stability and trim, structural weight and construction cost, utilization of spaces, and transport economy are elaborated. The selection procedure is supported by statistical data and empirical design formulas, design tables and diagrams allowing direct applications to individual ship designs. Additional reference material is given in Appendix A.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for determining the local strength of a bottom structure of a ship launched from a berth. The method is characterized by comprising steps of firstly, simplifying the integral structure of the ship into a variable-cross-section thin-walled beam along the length direction of the ship, perpendicularly flexibly supporting buttresses, selecting a series of gliding positions as working conditions when the ship glides along the berth, acquiring values of buttress reaction force born by the ship structure corresponding to the various buttresses, and determining various stress extreme positions of the structure; secondly, analyzing the strength of the structure corresponding to the stress extreme positions by the aid of a local three-dimensional finite element model, and determining the structural strength of various regions. The method has the advantages that integral ship beam computation is combined with a local three-dimensional finite element model analysis process, so that modeling workload can be greatly reduced as compared with a whole-ship three-dimensional structural finite element modeling analysis process in the prior art, the computation time can be saved, and the analysis speed can be increased.

Abstract: A bridge displacement and expansion joint width remote-measuring system based on the internet of things and lasers comprises a plurality of beam bodies which are laid on bridge piers, and an expansion joint is arranged between the end faces of every two adjacent beam bodies. The bridge displacement and expansion joint width remote-measuring system is characterized in that a fixed frame is arranged on the bridge piers and located outside the beam bodies in an expansion joint span range, and two laser distance measuring devices are arranged on the fixed frame; every two adjacent beam bodies are respectively provided with a laser reflection target, and the two laser distance measuring devices can be used for measuring the distances between the laser reflection targets on two sides and the fixed frame respectively. The bridge displacement and expansion joint width remote-measuring system has the advantages that a brand-new method is provided for measuring beam-body displacement and expansion-joint displacement, and correlation measurement data can be obtained efficiently in real time; compared with the prior art, a measurement process is more convenient, cost is lower, and measurement results are more accurate.

The principle that when a steel plate moves in the plate face normal direction in water, huge added mass is generated, the added mass generated through the structure is used for replacing the boundary constraint borne by the model, and added inertia force and torque of the rigid fixing boundary can be obtained. By means of the ship structure impact experiment boundary condition simulation device, the boundary conditions of rigid fixing at the two ends of the model can be well simulated. The ship structure impact experiment boundary condition simulation device further has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient to machine and assemble and capable of bringing convenience to quality control.

Abstract: Effects of tie beam length, width and overlap stress on settlement of foundations have been investigated. In this investigation square concrete footings have been used with dimensions (B × B × d) where (d) is footing depth and (B) is footing width (1, 1.5,2 m). Width of tie beam (b) has been taken equal to 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50 and 0.75 (m). Tie beam length (L) has been taken varying from B till 3B with same footing depth = 0.50 m. Effect of overlap stress on settlement as well as effect of tie beam width and length on settlement has been determined. Also, the efficiency of tie beam length and width has been obtained. An equation is presented to compute the overlap stress zone in case of existing tie beam. It is found that the settlement increases with increasing the length of tie beam which is clear after the effect of the overlap stresses zone. The width of overlap stress zone case of existing tie beam has been found to be equal to (1.6 -1.75) B. The settlement of footings decreases with increasing tie beam width. It is found that the settlement after the effect of the overlap stress zone increases with increasing the length of tie beam.

According to the utility model, the mounting device is reasonable in structure, simple to operate, safe and reliable, low in cost and can be reutilized, the problem that high-strength bolts are not easy to mount during the mounting process of the bearing beam of the conventional inward-crawling type tower crane is solved, and the procedure of the on-site reprocessing of bolt holes among the brackets and the bearing beam is avoided, so that the mounting, positioning and operation of the bearing beam are simpler and more convenient, and time for mounting and dismounting is saved.

Abstract: Through the overall physical model, the pier and beam slab wharf structure and big platform wharf structure influence on ship mooring conditions are tested. The results show that different wharf structure has certain influence on ship movement, mooring force and impact force. Due to the middle void space of pier and beam slab can buffer the wharf apron water action on the ship, which is good for improving ship mooring conditions, the pier and beam slab structure is proposed for the project.
