TL;DR: Sandia Laboratories has been evaluating the relative performance of several identity verifiers, using volunteer test subjects, and testing methods and results are discussed.
Abstract: A biometric identification device is an automatic device that can verify a person's identity from a measurement of a physical feature or repeatable action of the individual. A reference measurement of the biometric is obtained when the individual is enrolled on the device. Subsequent verifications are made by comparing the submitted biometric feature against the reference sample. Sandia Laboratories has been evaluating the relative performance of several identity verifiers, using volunteer test subjects. Sandia testing methods and results are discussed.

TL;DR: The authors concentrate on three main areas of biometric measurements which are covered by their integrated database: speech recognition, signature recognition and face recognition.
Abstract: The authors concentrate on three main areas of biometric measurements which are covered by their integrated database. They are: speech recognition, signature recognition and face recognition. The specific requirements for each of these human identification methods are described in detail with reference to their applications such as personal identification checks during cheque guaranteeing, secured premises entry/access and delivered items acceptance. The data acquisition control aspects and the present state of the project are outlined. Some illustrative pictorial examples of images from the database are also presented.

TL;DR: A comparison of performance of biometric methods for identification of people using their own human characteristics and differences is given to show the necessity of establishing standards for objective comparison for validation and also for improving algorithms.
Abstract: Blometric methods can be used for people recognition using their own human characteristics and differences guaranteeing interests of both the controller and the controlled. The blometric factors retained here are Fingerprints, Retina vascularisation, Voice, Geometry of the hand, Dynamics of signature, Keyboard latencies, Genetic fingerprintingA comparison of performance of such methods including general remarks are given to show the necessity of establishing standards for objective comparison for validation and also for improving algorithms.Biometric methods for identification of people are in progress and can stengthen computer security. Biometrics represents the concept "to be". It can be mixed with the two other concepts "to know" and "to have" to solve security weaknesses like the "fuzzy password choice problem."

TL;DR: In this article, a control system is coupled to the biometric reading device to analyze the attribute read by the reading device and is adapted to prevent the presentation of a biometric attribute when the device is not ready to receive an attribute by causing movement of an attribute receiving surface.
Abstract: A biometric reading assembly comprises a physical biometric reading device (22), such as a signature pad, for receiving a physical biometric attribute. A control system (30) is coupled to the biometric reading device (22) to analyze the attribute read by the reading device (22) and is adapted to prevent the presentation of a biometric attribute when the device (22) is not ready to receive an attribute by causing movement of an attribute receiving surface (31).
