Abstract: 1. The effect of the geometrical and technical parameters on the mixing intensity in fermenters of different capacity was examined. 2. The time of complete mixing is used as a criterion of the intensity of mixing. 3. An empirical equation for τmix as a function of the main parameters determining this quantity was obtained by mathematically evaluating the experimental data. 4. A method of scaling based on keeping the time of complete mixing constant is suggested.
