The effect of the geometrical and technical parameters on the mixing intensity in fermenters of different capacity was examined.

The time of complete mixing is used as a criterion of the intensity of mixing.

An empirical equation for τmix as a function of the main parameters determining this quantity was obtained by mathematically evaluating the experimental data.

A method of scaling based on keeping the time of complete mixing constant is suggested.
