TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for fire alarm signaling which is economical and versatile and which makes use of the properties and characteristics of the material of which it is made is presented, where a lower break-rod is mounted on the base and cammed aside as the main cover is closed.
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an apparatus for fire alarm signaling which is economical and versatile and which makes use of the properties and characteristics of the material of which it is made. All components of the assembly snap together. An auxiliary cover as well as the main cover may be used. A lower break-rod is mounted on the base and cammed aside as the main cover is closed and then the break-rod returned to a position to be broken in response to opening the main cover, an upper break-rod may be associated with the auxiliary cover. Up to three switches may be provided and each has a latched position. A simple tool is used to release the switch latch. The latch comprises an integral part of the base and/or switch stems. During assembly selected elements may be selectively oriented to make any switch have either normally-open or normally-closed contacts. The catch between the main cover and base permits easy actuation and yet inhibits false actuation in response to a blow. No internal wiring is required.

TL;DR: The cover plate is intended for telephone keyboards to prevent all or some outgoing calls being dialled as mentioned in this paper, and it can be used to prevent the telephone keyboard from being used for any outgoing calls.
Abstract: The cover plate is intended for telephone keyboards to prevent all or some outgoing calls being dialled. The cover plate (24) over the keyboard (20) is locked (40) to a base plate (28) under the telephone and hooked securely at the rear (30, 32) into a moulded recess etc. Holes (48) may be cut into the cover plate to reveal a limited number of push-buttons (22) so that certain limited dialling access may be possible, e.g. to fire and police services. For rotary dial telephones limited rotary travel may be allowed.

TL;DR: The rat trap has a bucket-like container (1) of electrically nonconductive material, with a cone shaped cover (2) including a central automatic trap door (4a, 4b) above the trap door is a path extending from one side of the container to the other, the path having electrically conductive running faces.
Abstract: The rat trap has a bucket-like container (1) of electrically non-conductive material, with a cone shaped cover (2) including a central automatic trap door (4a, 4b). Above the trap door is a path extending from one side of the container to the other, the path having electrically conductive running faces. In the middle of the path is an insulated electrode (9) to which accepts a bait. The conductive runway surfaces and the electrode are connected to the terminals of a high voltage supply.
