Abstract: An exterior wall panel as the basic component of a curtain wall for a multi-storied building. The wall panel includes a steel frame and fastening means for securing the frame to steel girders of a building. Mounting means to secure the wall panel to the exterior side of the steel frame include fastening means which removably interconnect the wall panel and the steel frame. The wall panel may comprise a plurality of panel segments to which steel furring strips attach. An interior wall panel may be secured to the interior side of the steel frame.

A plurality of longitudinally bent vertical members 3 are fitted along the horizontal base members to make a building body 5. Straight lateral members 7 having a specified length are laterally arranged at a plurality of vertical points of the vertical members 3 so as to adjust the position toward the outside of a room. Plane curtain wall units 8 are fitted between vertically adjacent lateral members 7 to be slanting against a perpendicular line. The upper outer face and the lower outer face of the curtain wall unit 8 are made flat and fitted separately to the upper and lower direction respecively. The upper outer face, the lower outer face, and the indoor side are sealed by a dry indoor sealing material 61 and an outdoor upper side sealing material 62 made of elastic rubber is applied at the outdoor side of the upper outer face in opposition to the lower outer face to provide a lateral space 70 having an equal pressure to the atmosphere, between the outdoor upper side sealing material 62 and the dry indoor sealing material 61.

Abstract: The article traces curtain-wall failures to the fact that their design is not properly coordinated with the building structure. The role of engineers in the design and construction of such walls is discussed, as well as its economics. The functions of the curtain wall are discussed: environmental, aesthetic, and structural. The selection and installation of sealants, and structural failures of curtain wall components, such as the loss of ability to support or transfer loads is also discussed. It is pointed out that too many decisions are left to the masonry contractors, and that there should be more coordination with the engineers. It is also noted that it would be more economical to integrate the skin into the structural design.

Dynamic racking tests were performed totally in plane. Various types of glass specimens were tested, including annealed, heat strengthened and fully tempered glasses in monolithic and laminated configurations.

CONSTITUTION:A square cylindrical air introducing member 2 is emdedded and fitted on the upper squatre part of a curtain wall component member 1 of which the whole joint is perfectly closed with a rain barrier. In this case, the air introducing member 2 is provided so that the opening 3 is projectingly penetrated through a sash in horizontal joint on the upper side of the curtain wall component member 1, and the lower openings on the vertical; joint. Hereby, althrough a strong wind and rain is blown against the outer face of the component member and rain water is entered into the horizontal joint, the water is passed from the upper opening 3 of the air introducing member 2 to the lower opening 4, brought down in the vertical joint separated with the barrier, and hence invasion of rain water into the building a actually perfectly prevented.
