TL;DR: A knowledge-based expert system capable of investigating a typewritten document and acquiring evidence on its falsification and subjecting a document to four tests to verify its authenticity is described.
Abstract: In this paper we describe a knowledge-based expert system capable of investigating a typewritten document and acquiring evidence on its falsification. A document is assumed to be falsified if its typing has been performed in multiple typing sessions. Verification of document authenticity is carried out by subjecting a document to four tests: alignment analysis, symbol comparison, gray level intensity analysis and type font identification. Tests are performed in succession and failure of any one of the tests signifies possible document falsificaton.

TL;DR: In this article, a document processing system and method for locating intelligence data such as the monetary amount on a document is presented, which is presented in the form of a matrix of binary data which corresponds to image data associated with a financial document such as a check or deposit slip.
Abstract: A document processing system and method for locating intelligence data such as the monetary amount on a document (24). The documents (24) are sensed by an imaging device (58) to provide intelligence data which is presented in the form of a matrix of binary data which corresponds to image data associated with a financial document (24) such as a check or deposit slip. From the matrix of binary data, an input character located on a predetermined side of the data is examined. If the input character is identified as a clue character, it means, generally, that a portion of the matrix of binary data which is associated with the clue character may be the binary data associated with the monetary amount. In the embodiment described, the clue characters are asterisks and dollar signs of different expected varieties. Having found the binary data associated with the monetary amount, it can be subjected to character recognition techniques to machine-read the monetary amount on the document (24).

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to reduce the load on a writer during input operation by inputting candidate characters in the decreasing order of similarity to an input character and outputting them in said order when necessary.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the load on a writer during input operation by inputting candidate characters in the decreasing order of similarity to an input character and outputting them in said order when necessary. CONSTITUTION:Information inputted to a tablet 1 is transferred to the recognition processing part 4 and command generation part 5 of a character recognition part 2. A processing part 4 uses this information, and recognizes a character when the information relates to the character. At this time, one or plural candidate characters are outputted as the recognition result are outputted as codes showing candidate characters and similarity in the decreasing order of similarity to the input character. The output of the processing part 4 is sent to the candidate character processing part 8 of a character processing part 7, and candidate characters are stored and displayed there. A document processing and character input processing part 10 performs necessary processing on the basis of command information. A candidate character having the highest similarity among candidate characters sent from the recognition part 2 is registered and outputted as the recognition result and a correct characters is selected among the candidate characters at a writer's request.

TL;DR: In this article, the area of a group and a part of a draft board is divided by a designated table, and the size of the respective boards are disignated by character row number fugure.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce wasteful blank space and obtain proper document processing by obtaining an area as divided in case of a draft board constituting a group and constituting a part of draft to be separated. CONSTITUTION:A console 12 consists of a keyboard and monitor display. An operator, by using it for a command input and condition monitor, can also input document information from these. A memory 14 holds a system software such as a program constituting the present system, various control data, etc. A processor 10 reads out a required program from the memory 14 to put it in a main memory 11 and executes the program. Draft board insertion designation information in a position within a character string required to insert the draft board is inserted in document character string information of an input device 16. This designation information contains an area designation table, and this draft board may be divided as an example. The size of the respective draft boards are disignated by, for example, character row number fugure.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a stack structure for a document file switch control mechanism so that the new file names can be extracted in order together with the file names obtained in the preceding time and copying those file names to the document medium.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the load on an operator and to improve the processing efficiency by forming a stack structure for a document file switch control mechanism so that the new file names can be extracted in order together with the file names obtained in the preceding time and copying those file names to the document medium. CONSTITUTION:A name 11 of a document file which is under handling is registered to a file name stack register 7, and several types of document file name groups which are recently used are recorded in the order of older ones. These name groups are always copied to an exclusive copy area 3 in a document medium 1 to avoid the double registration of the same file name. Then a keyboard 6 delivers a command to switch a present document file A to B and therefore the document file A on a document memory 10 is replaced with an old document file A. Then the document file B which is newly requested is fetched to the memory 10 from the medium 1. This switching action is repeated to produce the document file group in the medium 1.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose to facilitate inputting in preparing a document by making information always visible, which is located in the next position of a cursor in preparation a document larger than a display surface.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate inputting in preparing a document by making information always visible, which is located in the next position of a cursor in preparing a document larger than a display surface. CONSTITUTION:A processor 10 consists of a processor as well as a memory storing a program and data as main structural elements, which execute a program on a memory, and controls the whole document processor. In a storage 14, a KANA(Japanese syllabary)-KANJI(Chinese character) conversion dictionary, prepared document and its control information and others are stored. Information inputted from a keyboard 12 is stored temporarily in a memory of the processor 10 and is displayed on a display 16. The processor 10 checks the code when an input from the keyboard 12 enters a buffer, and when the input is a character to be displayed, the processor 10 writes the buffer contents in a position fixed by present row and column pointer and processes a curson travel. The device firstly increases the present column pointer by one, compares the value of the present renewed column pointer with that of a display end terminal pointer, and if both values are equal, the device checks that the present column pointer value reaches the row end of the document.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to improve the confidentiality of document communication by using a registered external character depending on the specific handwriting of a user as a secret code in a communication network accommodating a docement processing unit.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the confidentiality of document communication by using a registered external character depending on the specific handwriting of a user as a secret code in a communication network accommodating a docement processing unit. CONSTITUTION:The document processing unit 2 is accomodated to a communication network 1 and the system is constituted so as to attain mutual document communication, and the communication network 1 is provided with an information service center 3 and a secret code registering device 5. The center 3 registers and offers a document formed by the processing unit 2 and the registering device 5 stores the secret code by which the utilization of a registered document by a personnel other than a specific personnel is prevented. As the secret code, an external character registered by the document processing unit 2 by using an external registration function is used. Since the registered external character depends on the handwriting specific to the user, the mimicry by the 3rd party is disabled thereby improving the confidentiality remarkably.

TL;DR: In this article, a character code showing invalidity at the position of a half-em character is set at the end of a line of a buffer by a processor, and the em character is shifted to the head of the next line.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To discriminate whether a blank space formed at the end of a line is an intentional blank space or that for display control, by setting a specific character code showing invalidity at the position of a half-em character in case an em character is set at the half-em character position at the end of a line. CONSTITUTION: A memory 2 is controlled via a processor 1 and both em and half-em characters are written mixedly on a buffer 5 in response to the input of a keyboard 4 and displayed on a display device 6. In this case, a special character code showing invalidity is set at the position of a half-em character if an em character is set at said half-em character position at the end of a line of a buffer 5 by a processor 1. Thus the em character is shifted to the head of the next line. In such a way, it is decided whether a blank space formed at the line end is an intentional space or the one for display control. Then the blank space for display control can be used effectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
