Abstract: We show how to efficiently implement the preconditioned conjugate gradient method on a four processors computer CRAY X-MP/48. We solve block tridiagonal systems using block preconditioners well suited to parallel computation. Numerical results are presented that exhibit nearly optimal speed-up and high Mflops rates.
